| Yep its a pharking job alright, but no one forces them to pick that line of employment do they, its not as if when each child is born that there is some idiot aying this one will play league - this one will do porn - this one will dig holes for a living - this one will work for telecom - and this one will sit thier ar5e on the dole. I just wonder when people will stop being so nieve and realise that themselves and only themselves can decide which course thier life will take not any one else, only once we have stopped blaming everyone else for our downfalls can we learn to move forward... |

did we decide if the salary capp is worth keeping or getting rid of.
i think we keep it and get rid of all the greedy players who are in it for the money and not the game. |

| I think clubs are able to distribute an extra amount of cash from 3rd party sponsership to the top 3 marquee players in a club, I think they mentioned it on the footy show on Friday night, I may be wrong though. |

| fialemaa.....No you are right I dont work in the NRL couldnt put up with the b/s that Gallop and Co dish up.....if the 3rd party payments are made through one of the clubs "sponsors" then yes it is considered to be a part of the cap....which is 5hite . Anyways see you all at the game this saturday night...Im flying in tomorrow (Thursday 7/8) |

what ever it is the NRL need to do something that makes sense.
like bring back the biff its been a long time since good fight really broke out, none of this pushing shyte , good old swinging with both teams going at it. |

you obviously don't work for the NRL aj. That makes too much sense.
What's the story with players earning 3rd party payments through sponsorship deals? Are those exempt from the cap? |

| The NRL need/have to adjust the cap....no question there....I dont think they should raise the ceiling on the limit around the $4.5mill is fine but what needs to be addressed is the lack of reward for loyalty to players these days....if a club nutures a player from early days right through to first grade then after 3 years in 1st grade his 4th year contract can carry a 10% discount for the cap total....5th year 20%, 6th year 30%, 7th year 40%, and so on...this way a club can hold onto their marquee players and guys can remain loyal to one club....also clubs should have to have a junior breeding ground and junior league to be viable. |

Apologies..
what i meant was they can't get sponsorship with competing sponsors to those already sponsoring there club, i.e cannot do rebok ads or sponsorship because nike sponsors the bulldogs, thats what i meant. |

according to mr David Gallop any player can earn millions of dollars outside the club and not affect the salary cap if they want to. The only condition is that they can't get sponsorship with companys that are sponsoring there clubs.
which means he could of erned millions selling KFC or macdoanlds, wendys, subaru, to the aussie public and kept his family fed. |

Di13 i normally agree but on this one i've got to disagree my friend, all that you mentioned sorted it through there contract before leaving for another league club they didnb't just leave.
sbw just left, he was named to play against the roosters but was halfway to france when the game started.
yes there are problems with the bulldogs but your signature is your signature, just like memrobellia and autographs. If a superstar signs a shirt, hat or what ever it becomes more valueable because a superstar or celebrity has sigend it. there signature is there word (not that it means anything in todays professional sport)
and its bigger then 1 mis-guided youngster it can effect our whole game if any and all superstars just leave because they are unhappy rugby league as we know it will cease to exsist. all you'll have left will be ametures. theres no big TV deal to watch ametures play any sport. |

re di13
Why do you think the contracts for only two years. Do you think the ARU are going to suport the Bulldogs.Do you think the ARU have had no contact with SBW through this whole thing. And why wouldnt SBW be allowed back into aus? Are you really a mental patient |

The Salary cap is doing its job, on any given day one club can beat another unlike rugby where you pretty much know whos going to win. If they did get rid of the Salary cap clubs would go under as they are having enough trouble staying afloat with the new rules in Aussie that affects the income they make from gaming machines, which was there main method of income. the leagues clubs over there are like mini Casinos.
RE: DI13
All the players you named were off contract when they decided to change clubs Price,Omeley,Tonga,Thurst on and the others, what makes SBW different from them is that he has left mid way through his contract. The only people that know about the agreement that was made between SBW, Mason and the others is them. To Me SBW is a Naieve person that is easily lead, He sacked is manager and teamed about with Mundines who dosnt see any money from his current contract, So why wouldn't this fella Nasser want SBW to move to rugby. there is no way SBW will play for the all blacks because he is'nt playing in NZ. |

| You arent the brightest spark are ya di13. You will probably be the first to start crying when SBW is wearing a Wallaby jumper and running all over the abs. Then youll start thinking back and saying in your best Todd Blackadder voice " maybe it would of been better if he honoured his contract with the Bulldogs" |

increasing the salary cap would be sweet as for me, canberra has got alot of money so i can return to the days of 88 - 96, only money attracts people to canberra.. if you have been there you would know why .lol.
but that wont work because no matter what the cap is players ( naturally) will want more take the nfl for example. if you got time check out the drama that the 49ers went through is quite funny they were paying for jerry rice as part of there cap even though he was on his second club after leaving them.
the cap is working in the nrl and you would have to admit that. remember the days of souths and the gold coast sittin on one win a piece.
maybe its a need for more teams in ozs other states and maybe even a south island team here. |
