Fairly inept performance from the guys on the weekend, raiders played some magnificent rugby league mind you, then again they were allowed to do what they liked because of a woeful and lethargic looking defence, looking sort of sluggish for this time of year, the go forward worries me, the only guy that looked like breaking the line was mattelino, the rest were very poor in their basics and decision making, I feel for stacey jones because the forwards are not providing the necessary go forward for him to weave his magic, this is when he is made out to be the scape goat, it's a team effort, everyone has to be all on the same page, sadly at this time, their not, hopefully the injection of some youth and enthusiasm might rub off on some of the under performers, the tigers play an extremely fast paced game, the warriors need to be able to play an up tempo game to match them, she will be a very interesting one, hopefully the warriors can pull out a win

Im pretty sure they would of thought of the size mismatch of Knobs up against Tuiaki, so I wouldnt be surprised if they switch Vatuvei to mark him but even if they dont, yes Tuiaki is the bigger and one on one on the line I'd have to say he will score BUT Tuiaki better watch out for Knobs too if he gets a bit of room, it will be catch you up Tuiaki, Knobs will smoke him, leave him standing, looking like he lost something...hahahahahaha YEAH BOI, dont worry about Knobs he'l go hard

Warriors problems are bigger than one player

several aren't performing in the side

can't put the blame on one man

Joel Moon is a problem for the Worriors. He claims to be a no.6, but is not delivering like one. He options are at times poor which indicates his lack of ability to play a thinking game. He should be moved to the centres where he could be more versetile.

Re:New Zealand Warriors 2009 Reply to this message
Absolutely our forward pack need to get the go forward.
Our lack of ball playing forwards to assist our half and 5/8 could be coming back to bite us now.
Kevin Locke is a player of the future, but he is just back from injury and putting a boy against a man monster is asking for him to be run over! Kemp hasn't done anything wrong, rather Jerome Ropati has been a defensive liability and as a top try scoring winger for the Broncos, Kemp had much better service from his centres there than with the Warriors.
We look slow and unsure on attack, but I think blaming Stacey for that is naive, he can't do much without go forward, and being constantly over called or ignored by his other half, won't work either.

Re:New Zealand Warriors 2009 Reply to this message
i do really hope that's the case. But i'd seen too many times the tigers put Tuiaki one on one with the opposite wing with 5 meters to go.
First thing first, we need to get the ascendancy on the forward pack. and mannering please do not lose the ball again. And always have people covering up for potential off loads. The back rows has to be attacking the line at speed, the passing has to be crisp.
Think we miss hohaia's one off the ruck attack this year. McKinnon just didn't get enough decent balls to attack from, and the teams had already found the way to shut him off from kick returns.

me neither, but where else can you bring in Locke for experience?
argh.....totally forgot that tigers had tuiaki. it's going to be a nightmare for Locke "

Good point warrust

Tuiaki is going to trample poor young Locke. Wasn't Locke out injured and just came back a couple of weeks ago for the under 20s? He'll get injured again this week.

That Tuiaki is a monster and should be in the Kiwis

Re:New Zealand Warriors 2009 Reply to this message
This season Henderson hasn't been half as good as last year and in fact I would place around about half the blame on him for this form slump. He was explosive out of dummy half last year. He really got them on a roll but not this year.

Kemp is out too for young Locke. The wingers aren't the problem. The ball hasn't been getting out to them.

The balance isn't there. Mannering, Luck and Lillyman are not ball players. You'd think that Mannering with his size would get one off load away in a game but alas No.

The only reason I can see is his service from dummy half isnt what it was last year or what it should be so looking for some sharpness out of dummy half.

Re:New Zealand Warriors 2009 Reply to this message
Why has Cleary dropped Henderson? IMO he has been one of our best making good metres up the middle of the ruck? They should try Hohia at 7 and Moon to stay at 6, sorry Stacey i no he will be back but not good enuf at the moment.

argh.....totally forgot that tigers had tuiaki. it's going to be a nightmare for Locke if the forwards don't do their job to help him. this is bad.
anyway, i wouldn't be surprised if stacey is replaced mid way through the match to let Heremaia have a go to control the game.
but we need to get Matulino to be more involved in the game, whether in attack or in defence. if used properly, run at the right lines, he can cause a lot of headache for the defence.

Cant see the logic in dropping a winger who has to defend 2-3 players because the forwards and centre inside him cant tackle

bos.....weather is all good now mate....fine clear skies and a balmy 22 - 25deg...

on the game plan...not sure?? are they not provided a game plan? do they not follow what was provided?...it was pretty clear that the Raiders were out to target Stace so why didnt the Warriors put a strong forward out there to help him out in the same way that Carroll used to help Lockyer.

But you are right all is not lost and win the next 3 into the bye and things will look a lot different.

a.j bro hows the weather??

nah i do understand bro, its just even with the forwards rolling over the opposition i cant see stace doing much.

and your right about storm/campo thing, why did the warriors not do that to the raiders? poor game plan?

all is not lost for the warriors 1 win this weekend and start a march to the finals, just really talking about the here and now. its a very tough comp and alot of games will come down to the bounce of the ball.

Re:New Zealand Warriors 2009 Reply to this message
agreed - until the warriors forward pack pull finger, the halves and backs aren't going to dominate! To then replace a winger and you second most consistent performer Ian henderson makes very little sense when it's the defense on the fringes and poor decisions to come in off your position and not complete the tackle that are hurting the warriors. We remain a huge supporter but man they make it tough at times!

p/i/x/i/e like bos cant understand why thats offensive ....you will find Fien was playing for himself and trying to get a contract in the early rounds before he was dropped and told he was surplus to requirements....agreed its a big call but until our forwards start going forward and hurting in defence...its going to be a long season...in saying that my FAITH will never waiver and come on WARRIORS lets win this weekend and send Benji and his team home with nothing but a spanking

fien, gets the warriors to the finals for the last two years, wins a world cup for his adopted country, does some silly kicks in round whatever, so what , and is dumped, useless management, sign ian henderson for two years now dump him to the vulcans, pretty clever aye? fien can play hooker, but no, get rid of him dummies, he's gonna carve up for the dragonz
