As usual; a better than mean script by 'nicolte'. A pity (s)he not more of a Blooz fan...
After what we witnessed in Dunnydin the other night: The Auck front-line should win the squeeze up-front.
Again, Troy/Boric made the Auck line-out look less of a gamble.
Kaino, Braid and Williams can also deliver the goods if a things around them go their way...I've never 'stood So'oialos' support!
While I've not seen enough of Moa to brag...I've never felt intimidated by Weepu. I echo-ho-ho 'nicolte' on his/hers hb verdict.
Both Nacewa and Stanley can deiver great goods, and I hope they blow apart their opp's. Nonu will have to do alot better than recent if he's to hassle our mid-fielders.
While I'm confident Tuitavake can blow his opp. off the park, I'm not so sure about our wing attacks or defence ever since my fav Rok left us.
Again, on a good night, we've got the better boot...both in place and tactical...but I just don't want Evans to have to do everything; score all our points and stop all theirs.
Unless it's really pissing down...I'll be there! Ciao! |

Well no I guess not upon reflection. It will come down to what happens in the Chiefs/Sharks game. I think the Sharks will win that but if they do , they may not get a bonus point and the Blues have a better points difference due to early season form (could be all important).
They still have to beat the Canes with a bonus point though which will be a massive ask. Also relying on the Hurricanes not getting a bonus point for being within 7.
I personally think the Blues are a bit wobbly mentally when it comes to crunch games. This was evidenced with Flavell losing the plot mid-season and giving away extra metres for arguing with the ref. Think the Hurricanes are better big game players at the moment.
Will soon see. Should be a cracker!! |

Am pleased Tialata copped a ban. It wasn't just the danger of the tackle. The fact was the tackle was made without the ball - which as I recall had dribbled over the sideline. Not malicious perhaps but very definately stupid! Typical of the Hurricanes of old.
I can't see the Blues beating the Canes. They struggle to put consecutive good performances together. Also think the Canes will be more motivated as even if the Blues win, it is mathematically unlikely they will make the semi's. If the Canes win, they are guaranteed one. |

| I hope that Tialata gets off too, he didnt drop him on his head or drive him into the ground. Must have been scary being upended like that though. Should be a great game this Friday. Match ups will be fantastic. Just hope the weather holds up for some running rugby! |

good call Nicolte, I take it Tialata got off?
Tialata always plays good against Afoa but imo Afoa has had a better year with Tialata coming into form |

I can't wait for this one, the matchups all over the field are going to be awsum.
Tialata and Shwalger vs Woodcook and Afoa - I reckon "the myth" will do alright, he always does. Afoa will have his work cut out for him though.
Hore vs Mealamu - Hore is the in-form hooker, Kevvy must know his number 1 spot is under a huge threat so these 2 will be going hammer and tat.
Eaton and Thrush vs Boric and Flavell - Boric has made a huge difference to the Blues lineout, Flavell will have to be on his best behaviour because both Canes 2nd rows are feisty characters and might try to get under his skin.
Kaino, Braid and Williams vs Collins?(Waldrom), Masoe and So'oialo - What a battle this will be. The BIG number 8 in Williams vs the hard working So'oialo. Kaino trying to outmuscle the Canes back 3 muscle men, and Braid trying to prosper from the pieces.
Weepu vs Moa - Might be a good chance for Piri to show the young fulla a few tricks. Whatever the case Piri needs a huge performance, he is way down the pecking order at hb in my estimation.
Ripia vs Nacewa - I think Nacewa is brilliant and it might be a good time to for him to show his goods before he goes OS.
Nonu vs Stanley - I can't wait for this!!!! The best attacking player in the competition(on his day) against the guy who I consider NZ's current best backline defender. Fireworks!!! Bring it on!!!!
Guilford and Gear vs Smith and Wulf - All have been in-form recently, should be a pretty even matchup. David Smith might pull a big one out against his old franchise :-)
Tuitavake vs Smith? - Tuitavake to show just how old and slow Smith actually is.
Jane vs Evans - This game will be won and lost on a good kicking game. With Evans at the back I think the Blues have a slight edge in the kicking dept so it will be interesting to see how this pans out. |
