Using the "nicolte rugby rating system" hahahaha whereby a player gets maximum of 10 points and a possible team total of 150, I would rate the 3 starting 15's like this.

I don't know mate, high standards?? Just a bloody committed AB/rugby fan.
Can't wait for Saturday, although am working, think the game will be a beaut, and for the record I think the starting AB team and the Aussie team are both better than the boks. |

dhume, the WC is massively important, i'm not down playing the importance of it. The point I'm trying to make is that just because you are the holder of it doesn't mean you are the best team in the world, old ground I know, but thats the point i was making, as well as the Boks are average, were last year, are this year. You don't need me to tell you that players and coaches around the world see us as the No1 team.
As far as going on about been the greatest WC etc etc, I wouldn't have been saying that, so I wouldn't have been a hypocite. Even if that team won last year I don't think they would have been as good as the 87 team, or even the 95 team that lost. |

Nicolte, the Boks are average at the mo, their front row is a joke, as is half their back line. No matter what any one says they will not go down as one of the good WC winning teams. But you didn't seem to read the bit where I said the current AB team is average as well.
And as far as the amount of tests the Boks might win or lose this year, that justs adds weight to my point. The quality of the international game at the mo is sh.it, not the Boks are a good team. |

| renee. The only reason we are playing down the importance of having "that little gold cup" is because we don't have it. To make yourself feel better, you say that it doesn't mean anything. If we had it hough we would all be going on about the AB's being the greatest world champs ever and how great we are. Makes us sound a little hypocritical don't you think?? |

renee, I love watching the AB's with a passion. Like most of you I get my a$$ out of bed at all hours of the morning to watch them because it's just not the same if you don't see it live. I have been posting on these threads since just before the 07 RWC and of course I will blow the AB's trumpet, thats my one and only team!!! But this doesn't mean I don't recognize that there is only a blade of grass or bounce of the ball separating us from SA and OZ.
di13, I just think it is too early to go saying that the BOKS are mediocre, we usaully lose 1 or 2 tests a year, who is to say the BOKS will lose another game this season? Given they have 3 "home games" left against US and OZ, and we know how hard they are to beat at home, then they have flimsy NH opposition at the end of year might see them only drop 2 games for the season, hardly a mediocre team if they were to do this. We have already lost 1 game this season, if we lose 1 more, then we are in the same position as the BOKS, does this mean we are mediocre?
I am sorry to spoil your party with facts, my AB support is unconditional, win lose or draw, but this doesn't blind me to think that no other teams have the potential to beat us. |

renee - do your research. We only play the boks once in SA. They play the Wallabies 2 times making up their remaining three games. If they will all their home matches, they've got as good a chance as the ABs who have 3 more away games, and 1 at home.
I also think that Nicolte makes valid points in general across this forum and has done for some time going back to before the RWC 07. The Boks are current WC and have a relatively good chance of beating the Wallabies in SA twice (Aus haven't won there for some time now....) and a fair chance of the decider against the ABs.

I tend to agree with nalaleba when he said zzzzzzzzzz, its a stupid topic but I thought it needed raising that the worlds players and coaches see us as the No1 team etc even when supposed AB fans don't.
nicolte, mate I have seen you blow the AB trumpet on here long and loud many times. Yep the Boks beat us here for the 1st time in 10 blah blah blah, but they are an average team at the mo, as are the current AB's when you look at history.
The Boks are the true WC's I have no problem with that, but as I have previously said will go down in history as an average team. Unlike the AB's of 87 who then went undefeated for 3 seasons, they go down as freakin legends.
It could still happen that we lose both games to the boks in Sth Af but win the TriNations, what will people say then?? |

I think it's a bit harsh on the BOKS to call them mediocre, they were beaten in a fantastic test match, probably the best game of the year so far, then they were beaten by a determined Wallabies effort, and by a little fatigue. I wouldn't go writing off the BOKS just yet, they are still in the box seat in my estimation having won a vital away game.....against US, IN DUNEDIN for the first time ever, and for the first time in 10 years.
I said after the RWC cup that I would not truly recognize them as World Champions until they had beaten us, they have done this and are fully deserved of their title.
It is the AB's with everything to prove now, if we want to cement our place at #1, and confirm what we all think (that they are truly the best) , then we need to beat the BOKS at home on their turf, only then will I blow our trumpet long and loud. |

| i thought the true essence of being a world champion was to consistently win year after year,test after test no matter the opposition,no matter the circumstances,i respect saf winning the rwc,but they seem to be the same as england after they won it,(mediocre) why is there such an intense feeling whenever the ab's play any team in the world?,its because we truly are the team to beat,the 'everest'of world rugby,smith acknowledges the ab's as the best because the facts speak for themselves,he respects the ab's,just as much as we acknowledge how good he is,not openly,but we respect how good he is as a player as well? before richie truly established himself,i remember the dreaded smith,he was a deadly accurate sniper,but for me,hes an aussie,richies the man!! |

I agree, I also think teams step up a notch against the AB's as well which is one of the reasons I think we dont have the world cup.
Every team that plays the AB's plays like they have nothing to lose, making them more of a threat, unpredictable. |
