then again
the weirdest of politics has come over the nzru recently, for all i know, they wouldnt give a rats a$S what i say,not much do really, for all i know,
the next coaches could be craig dowd and john kirwan, with robin brooke and keith robinson as specialist lineout coaches, but theyd still get my backing!! |

by 'disfunction' around the world
i mean, big name people like zinny and fitzy rubbishing their former coach, and their tactics and strategies, tunnel vision thinking etc etc,its not like these 'so called' henry guys to be coming out and making statements like that, its caused alot of dissatisfaction everywhere, even after the recent win,its still a huge issue, wtf do these guys have to do please everyone?,it makes no sense to me,
and if henry and co were to stuff up 'big time' again, just going by smith 'losing confidence' in his abilities, remember? 01'when mitch was handed the job? 2 years or not,i could see lam and howarth taking over if the earth moved,i base this on the success of their anzc form since 05',cause only deans has had a better record then theirs, but he wouldnt be in the running (obviously),or cooper if you take the canes finals appearances into account? |

I dont think deans will head coach in NZ again till the AB job is open. I'd be interested to see the fine print of his contract I'm sure he wants that All Black job.
he is in a similar situation Henry was in a long time ago, Henry wanted the AB job and his Auckland team was dominant. He was maybe seen by the NZ public as the best coach in New Zealand. When the job opened up, someone else got it so he went overseas - very similar to what has gone down with deans. |

u wuz joking!! dam u gk
i wouldnt have pulled out a frikin mammoth fact sheet for no reason!!
yip im with you,i dont go by deans 'assisstant' ab reign
i go by what he couldve brought to the table now days, from 03 til now,hes come on big time, all the player selections aside, canty, sader bias,i believe he wouldve given other guys a go,and not just fully choose canty players,i think rob is a 'huge' loss,i am over it ok,i know sentimental deans fan bla bla talk, but i really do think,in deans case, not so much gatz, that the nzru really did let the 'big 1' get away, otherwise, why would we be having so much hoopla about the current regime?,and this has been an ongoing topic since the grey day in cardiff, almost a year!!it is a big issue, theres too much disfunction around the world, not just nz |

I was joking about the Crusaders not want Hansen. The NZRU wouldn't let him coach them. Blackadder is the best choice anyway.
Deans won't get a look-in in NZ again until there are changes on the board.
Like Deans or hate him he is a class coach that has done wonders for players in NZ. He is a real gentleman of the game and his passion for it is second to none. He is a big loss. |

so crusaders didnt want hansen,ok got that,so deans mentioned hansen would be in,in 2 years if it wasnt gonna be henry...hmmm,ok,didnt deans also endorse hammett as coach?
wtf is up with the nzru? do they have a pis$ on anything deans says stance or something? i watched a programme a couple of weeks back ,'rugby focus' and getting towards the end of the 07' season, timana tahu 'enquired' about joining robbie at the saders for the 08' season with an eye to one day repping the blacks before he signed on with the tahs, deans told him to ask the nzru etc, etc, now from what timana said, the nzru gave him a straight not interseted,'thanks but no thanks',that was timanas answer,i thought that wouldve been quite a 'coup' to pull off a signing like him?
its this sort of initiatives and sometimes outside the box thinking that we need to succeed i reckon, robbie also wanted pat lam as assisstant, now that says alot about lams coaching, and not just for the fact that lam played for the saders back in the whenever. |

I know Blackadder hasn't coached a Super 14 game yet, but I seriously believe he is a contender after the next WC.
I think Deans mentioned after his interview with the NZRU that the job would be Hansen's in 2 years if it wasn't going to be Henry.
The Crusaders didn't want Hansen! That is why he didn't get the job. |

seriously,if henry did decide to step down after 2 years,(speculation),i reckon smith and hansen will slot straight in,is that a reason why hansen chose to turn down the sader job?
did the nzru offer hansen the carrot as the future 'top' coach? or was it just that they didnt want him doing 2 jobs?
so since the anzc was formed,s14,jab,maoris,fro m our current coaches in nz,who would be the next in line to take the ab's if all 3 got the chop?,barring mitch, hart, buck, dingo, gatz, all that, who would be the next 2 or 3 in line as logical replacements,if the selection process was through anzc or s14 form? since 06' |

Who knows who Henry is going to pick? The only sort of consistent picks from him this year are the Crusaders players.
I have never seen a coach make so many changes as Henry has in the last 2 years. It seems as if a player gets injured and seven changes are made to accommodate. |

Makes sence to me, deans is far better coach than nucifora which is why the crusaders did far better than the blues. All I'm saying is that I'm "slightly worried" deans would over represent his players in the AB's if he was the current coach.
For example Wulf and Kahui have shown to be strong rookies who have a real future in the AB's. There is no way I can be sure this is just speculation but I would say that those two would not be there and we would have Hamilton & Laulala. Just two examples I think would be bad.
But that's just be speculating. Some will agree others wont. |

<<I think it's fair to say the Blues team was far stronger than ther results which in part is due to some poor coaching.>>
Yet you say the Crusaders players don't deserve to be in the All Blacks and Deans is not as good as Henry.
Tell me how Deans managed to get his Crusaders team full of untalented players to so many Super finals then? Could it be his superior coach ability? Not by what you are saying.
You can't say Deans is not a good coach and the Crusaders aren't good players yet they are consistently the best team. |

interesting thread, Almost everyone thinks something different.
Personaly I think Henry still has it though some times I dont agree with some of the coaching decisions
1: choping between Smith & Kahui, that single game of Kahui's was enough to show he diserves to be there but they cut back to smith.
2: Persisting with Elis after 4+ average tests.
He is a very good defence coach and I think it's great the way he works together with smith and hansen.
Henry is from south, hell I've lived outside the waikato for more than half my life but try telling me I'm from somewhere else and I'll put you straight.
If anything I think henry & co are good at picking the best players for what they are looking for. To be honest I think deans is an awesome coach but if he was in charge of the AB's now I think we would see an extra 5+ players from Crucaders squad which IMO would not be a fair representation. They were an awesome team but dont forget they lost two games to other new zealand teams this year.
Speculation but if deans was coach I think we would see players like Hamilton in the squad and we would not see players like Wulf & Kahui.
I think it's fair to say the Blues team was far stronger than ther results which in part is due to some poor coaching. Chiefs were the best team in the competition when they had their best team on the field but got hit by injury far too often.
I think it would have been really good for deans to get away from NZ rugby for a bit it just hurts to see him coaching Australia!~ Why couldn't he have coached fiji or some northern team (other than england or france) for a few years... |
