south africa are the world cup holders for sure....
but early sunday morning they got taken to school - scored zero points and killed percy montgomerys 100th test celebrations...
i think they should be playing like champions....but quite frankly theyre doing the opposite... |

| The world cup Did matter (at the time), but that's in the past now. Our main focus now, is on the 3N's & Bledisloe Cup. I'm with you on this one krazykiwi, a big cup of 'shut the fark up' would suffice!. I'm hoping Aus takes it to them this weekend, & then by the end of the 3N's, when Saf are 3rd (last!), DeVillageidiot, will have run out of words!. Oh well, at least then he will have a whole year to come up with a new reportoir (?spelling) of excuses for the next 3N's!! |

| According to many of u THE WORLD CUP didn't matter, oh and it was just a title that the boks won now and again. oh wait twice! Why do we have to shut up? Can't u take defense if it's due to us? Everybody has their own opinions. |

| Ok with all your rejoicing our lose against the AB's at least our boys didn't cry publicly in front of the world, or seek counseling, or did anybody hear that domestic violence increased this week? |

I have to agree with you putionz.
The Boks were camped on the AB tryline several times, only to be repulsed and turned over on every occasion.
That proves it wasn't 'the bounce of the ball' or 'luck' that won and lost that test.
Truth is, the Boks did mess it up with a stupid high risk style (which reminded me of the Blues) but they didn't score because they were not allowed to by the All Blacks, who were monstrous to a man on defence.
Not because of the ref, or cheating, or bad luck. |

get off the crack mate. we went out winners 19 zip...so to that end we took our opportunities and your boys didn't that's what I was pointing out and if Dan had a good day with the boot perhaps a little more luck with the conditions he was kicking in then the margin may have been greater so calling that scoreline flattering is just dumb and no I wouldn't agree on that point as you can't look at the first half points and presume what you did...
<Let's not forget that it was only 0-5 for most of the game. I'm glad our boys won and they deserved it, but the 19 point margin is very flattening I'm sure you'll all agree>
your opinon, that's fine but I think your analysis overall is well... dumb!
Did the Abs play better defensivley or were we the better attacking team?
If I presumed anything it would have been that we were better full stop and the only ones flatered by that scoreline would have been the saffas.
what do you think about them apples sunshine.. |

scoreless in saf!!,thats a monumental effort by the ab's
if it wasnt for an off day with the boot from dc,the score couldve been 33-0,thats the true indication of the ab's dominance!! |

| I suppose if the coach believes the opposition cheat then eventually he will pass that culture on to the team also....if so you could expect to see the team blaming the ref rather than taking accountability themselves..... |

| Yes I think Brad sometimes reverts to his league mindset, where thay a a bit more tolerant in some areas. Stepping in front on the bok player like that was a bit silly. But as you say he more than makes up for it in other areas. |

| Yea its not a good look when the ref has to reminded of the rules by a player and then goes outside the rulebook to look at the Habana incident....Ref had a shocker but thats not why we wasted the Boks....we were just simply the much better team |

| Your right there cham. It was noticable there was a lot of appealing to the ref from the Boks, not just Matfield. Very indisciplined play from them and I suspect the first thing they were rattled with was the way they were getting out agro'ed at the breakdown. AB's discipline was very good and is becoming a big feature of this team..(apart from Thorn of course but thats ok he brings other qualities).... |

Yes I think a big difference was the Boks got rattled by the ref, as shown by Matfields continued complaining, while the ABs knuckled down and got on with it. Richie seemed to handle the ref well. Pointed out the rule when the kickoff went into the ingoal and shoo'ed Victor away when he was complaining.
Good stuff. |

| One of the most unprofessional displays of reffing I have seen, that barnes/habana incident was bizarre. But as far as the impact on the game went it went both ways so at least it was "pretty consistent" and it was only really a couple of calls either way. Differene was NZ knuckled down and defended and got out when they were under the hammer. |

"Grasping at straws"? wtf? LOL, what would I be 'grasping at straws' about? I'm calling it how I saw it.
As you've said the AB's didn't make the most of their opportunities. The truth is we weren't that much better than them and were lucky to get three tries on them and hold them socreless. I wouldn't count on every encounter going our way this much... |

stop graspng at straws...flattering score? what a friggin' pull-through...Carter missed penalties if anything the score really flattered the saffas... if the Abs had executed their opportuities Percy's brithday present would ahve been a larger differential but hey that's test rugby sunshine... |

| phark, was that ref having a shocker or what?! didn't know some of the rules, ignored Barnes saying habana stepped on the line and went upstairs instead... (does this mean we now have to thank barnes???) |

There's nothing like being a bad winner and gloating in sporting success...
Keeping the Springboks scoreless was pretty amazing, although they might have had something to do with that with Butch James' performance and Habana getting injured. There were still some worrying moments and they looked capable of crossing our line with a bit more training.
Let's not forget that it was only 0-5 for most of the game. I'm glad our boys won and they deserved it, but the 19 point margin is very flattening I'm sure you'll all agree. The boks didn't get the rub and their risk taking backfired horribly 5 minutes from time (in fron of their own posts). |
