| I hope that never happens,it would screw the Air New Zealand Cup, and has the potential to end up like international league where the Kiwi's players are so often prevented from playing for the Kiwis by their clubs against international rules |

| Of course the preparation is already in place. We have replacements in depth some still in deep cover like Mike the Moro Bar Brewer and my old mate Keith Murdoch. It could also reduce accommodation and travel costs as well as getting good coaching by former and present AB's...apart from the refusal to release players farce from their respectve clubs what more could the NZRFU want, perhaps they could move offshore as well? |

| Depends on how much they love playing for their country i suppose. There will be the full selfish ones, only in the game for the buck and then there will be the passionate ones that will want to play for their country. The latter will be the ones that wll be remembered. |

| If the NZRFU changed their stance on overseas players, it would be interesting to see how many players would get that release clause in their contract if it ment a big pay reduction |

I see your point stunningly cool. I also think that will eventually cause the balance to tip to full selection from overseas. once that line in the sand is moved, it becomes easier to justify continuously moving it.
I know that's not what you're advocating, but will probably be the result. |

I think they should be able to select overseas players only as injury cover
If the ABs dont have the dept in any position than we should be able to call up someone to come in and cover esp if we are in south africa or uk where the ABs are along way from home |

why take the incentive out of the huge talent pool that have not decided to chase buck abroad or are undecided. I have to strongly disagree with the "best" tag your applying to overseas players(NH). |

| I still want to see the best players playing for their country.Once they are gone,we don't see them play anymore and thats a shame.I don't think it would turn the S14 into a second tier comp as there is so many great and up comming players produced in this part of the world, but why give SA an advantage over Aust/NZ.If they were born in Aust/NZ, they should be able to play for their national team. It's a professional sport. |

the talent is her and if we're doing the buisness with the boys aviable at home why the hell bother. This would only worsen the scurry north IMHO.
Nice to see the SARFU decsion is paying dividends with peter de villiers creating bok history in Cape Town... Keep up the good work you moaney Piece o'sh!t |

we can beat the "world champions" AWAY without our overseas players why bother...
I personaly dont want to see it happen. Imagine if the rule changed and ex-pats were selected in maybe 2-3 yearsit could be so bad almost the whole squad would have to be selected from overseas.
Look at argentina, almost all their players are selected from europe, they get sweet f all time together as a team and very limited time together to prepare for test matches.
That big loss to south africa would not happen if they had a setup like New Zealand has currently where our National Union is more important than the Clubs. |

As I've said before, I'm against including overseas players in the ABs.
I think any benefits are far outweighed by the disadvantages. If there is no black jersey incentive for staying in NZ then the S14 will be decimated and we will be left with the 2nd tier. Yes there is a lot of talent in the ANZ cup but they are still 2nd tier players who need gametime with and against the top level guys before they are ready for higher honours.
Also the returning players will have been playing an inferior standard (Matfield has been ordinary after playing in europe).
My biggest concern is that these overseas clubs will find reasons not to release players anyway (he's injured) |

We must select offshore.
Imagine how much better the Blacks would've been with Hayman, Howlet and Mauger there.
I will admit the past two games have seen exceptional play from the current squad but if McCaw, Cowan or Williams goes down, there's real trouble.
If we could call up Holah, Kelleher and Jack to replace them it wouldn't be so bad. |

| Heard couple of old heads (fitzy + few others) almost 'demanding' that its time nzru looked into selecting players for ab's from offshore.I know its early days but the question is,after seeing ab's perform megnificently within a couple of weeks with these young guns, you guys reckon players that are playing their traits overseas should be considered? |
