Re:ABs VS Munster Reply to this message
An ABs win by 2 is better then ABs losing by 3
ABs didnt perform well but still did enough to win in the end
Im glad Joe roks is back playing for the ABs hes looking dangerous and the more games he plays the better he will get

Re:ABs VS Munster Reply to this message
Joe Elliot Problem was that Munster started off playing the All Black "second string" but were finally beaten by the "first string".Not very sporting to bring on your best players in the final minutes against a tired and valiant Munster side, just to ensure success...
so what your saying is if it had of been munster that brought on some international players and won that would have been unsporting to a b grade allblacks team. I think its called playing to win.....

Re:ABs VS Munster Reply to this message
Thanks JAMZ

you took the words right out of my mouth. Then I hear on the radio we got a "get out of jail card". What? Munster let us have the game? ahhh nah! ABs played hard to win that game against a team that was spirited and gelled against an underperforming ABs side that lost shape a la RWC07 during segments of that contest.

JOE

Yep we got there just! but any talk of sportsmanship...huh? Oh no everyone is a winner. phaaark me!!!! People like you are killing the country and punishing normal society FFS. Bro that was not a first string side just a few subs that play there.

Elliott for big game against Wales!

Re:ABs VS Munster Reply to this message
joe - it would have been unsporting not to have done everything possible within the laws of the game to win. It would also have been very dumb to sit there and let the team loose - may have cost Henry his job and cost us supporters a lot of angst and puss from the Irish....

Stop being so PC Joe. If you're not in the game to win, then go and support another team. I want my AB team to win, not just participate.

Re:ABs VS Munster Reply to this message
I think the AB's did well and would have got a lot out of that game in terms of experience.

Munster are the #1 team in europe, and though they were weakened somewhat they still had 10 players in the team with over 100 games. That is some serious experience.

They played themselves to a standstill

The environment was totaly alien, how many points was that worth to Munster. I dont think you can get much more advantage from home ground than that. I think the silence during kicks put off both Carter and Donald. That was something else.

And the AB's still won, reality is they dominated the 2nd half but just lacked that finishing touch a few times. MacIntosh & Gear few drop balls.

But i'll say it again you cant buy they experience those guys would have got last night. That will be worth so much for them, in particular the guys seen as real future top AB's

Like Messam, MacIntosh, Elliot, Toeava, Gear, Read and Doanld

Re:ABs VS Munster Reply to this message
yep was a good game for the munster club i suppose. But they started to tier and lay around the field. To me it looked like the AB,s conceeded more handling errors than their oppositions did though i could be wrong because had watch replay on Prime.

Re:ABs VS Munster Reply to this message
None has commented as Weepu's role as capt, he certainly didn't slow the ball from the base of the maul/scrum but did he have presence on the field? Did his substitution mean something other than HE wasn't enough to inspire others,- I don't think Quick Draw McCaw or Mourie would have made 1 iota either against a fired up team unless we'd been fired up as well to begin with.

Re:ABs VS Munster Reply to this message
I just think that its unfair to the All Blacks and to Munster to say that the All Blacks played poorly, they were faced by a team who put in a super-human effort. Those Munster lads minus the internationals have never played to that level together before and most likely will never play to that level as a group ever again. They were written off but the crowd asked them to stand up and fight and by God did they answer the call. I'll tell you one thing, I wouldn't like to be Mick O'Driscoll trying to get out of bed this morning, I'd be surprised if half the team can walk today!!

Quite right Paul, I have been to many tests including most of the Lions tour down here and had not experienced an atmosphere quite like that last night, it left us buzzing for the the rest of the night.

Re:ABs VS Munster Reply to this message
Most of the posters are missing the point entirely and its obvious that they didn't experience the atmosphere in Limerick yesterday. This wasn't some meaningless mid-week run-out where you can analyse and pick apart each pass and tackle. Every person wearing the Munster colours on the field and in the stands gave every ounce of themselves into that game, and the All Blacks recognised it, respected it and stood toe to toe with them as you would expect them to. The Munster players were still picking their bodies off the floor and throwing themselves in harms way when their bodies were running on nothing more than pure pride and passion. The All Blacks will play a hundred rugby games and never experience anything like what they experienced yesterday, how many times have you seen the All Blacks team doing a lap of the stadium to salute the crowd in a supposedly meaninless mid-week game? Do you think that the All Black players that are being criticised in the posts below are going to look back and regret dropping a few balls or making a few bad passes? They'll be proud that they were involved in an amazing sporting occasion in Thommond Park on the 18th of November 2008 and they'd be dead right too.
