Moleybert. My opinion is that 3 specialist 1st fives should have been taken on tour. Considering Dan is going to be away depth in this position is required. Some say Piri would be the 3rd choice based on the all blacks selections. I think a good long run option, who has far more potential is Dan Kirkpatric. Stephen Brett would be my other choice, again far more potential than Donald. I was once a fan of Donald, and prior to seeing him play at international level I would agree, but he has definitely not made the step up to international, let alone AB level. Many would bring up the Waikato Crusaders clash, which is valid. Donald may be good on a good day, but he is terrible on a bad day, this just isn't sufficient at AB level. Id have more confidence in Brett's consistency than Donald's.
Good point about Leon MacDonald, he has played first five for ABs and when he was playing in Jaapan. |

If Deans got the job we could have had ol ICE back in the Manu he played there before anyway. ha ha He is at this point steady and is maturing nicely. He has already proven himself as a utility for mine and is only gettgin better. That's a fact. Watch this space naysayers. |

| donald plays well for the chiefs and waikato but dont reckon he has the composure for tests. has lots of flair, but is not what the abs need with a talented backline already. i have never rated toeava either, ever since he was brought into the squad as a 19 yo, I have never seen him back up all the hype he gets about him. I feel sorry for him though, dont think he expected to get hyped up so young. |

| Can't understand the hassle with Jamie MacIntosh. He wouldn't have been selected if he didn't have the goods. He's possibly got some of the best technique I seen for a big man. Remember he's pushing 195cm. You could put a cup of tea on his back. He's better than that chump Schwalger with the glass jaw. Whoppa is going to be a superstar within the next 2 years. He was killing that prop in the 2nd half who, by the way, was cheating hard out, and had the balls to start walking backwards everytime Whoppa had a good hit. He's no angel but honestly, the whole team weren't spectacular were they? He's young, still developing, and can read a game extremely well, which is rare for a front rower. Listen to the aftermatch interviews and you'll see how much he can analyse a game. I'll put my balls on the line and say that this guy is a possible All Black captain. |

Leon,
I have no problem with people displaying their views, but instead of moaning about what players you don't want in the AB's, how about giving us the players you would have replacing them. It's all good and well saying Donald and Macintosh are rubbish but give us the plyers you think should be there!!! |

he is inconsistent
but he has the 'x-factor' and presence about him,
i always say,when he goes away from confrontation and
a direct approach,he sort of gets confused and seems lost,
hes not those sleight of hand pass type of guy like dan is,remember dans 2 offloads v ire,1 to ma'a that led to the penalty try,and the pass he gave to nonu again for williams 'no try',those sleight of hand passes and inside torpedo passes are hard to master for sure,dans a master at them,donalds not,it was clearly evident in the munster game,far too much heeby jeebyz!!.....but..
he made some telling breaks when he ran,and that is impressive,he has a very strong 'running' game,the chip n regathers are ok when you pull them off,but not in a tight contest like that was,the ball should be treasured like gold!! |

| You're right bro..Donald is EASILY the 2nd best 1st 5 in the country and he has stepped up in some big games. He is inconsistent,(i've said that all year bro, i'm not jumping on him after one bad game)and he is taking some time adjusting to rugby at this level. I do think that the potential is there. typical media to heap praise on him after one good half of test football in Brisbane. I like the vision to attempt the chip kicks etc. it breaks up the defensive pattern..just a matter of developing consitency and decision making. |

| I think one thing everyone can agree on is that Donald totally stifled the AB backline that night, particularly Toeava. OK there were many occasions when he received back-foot ball from Weepu but there was also many occasions when he had time and space to feed the backline, in which case there was a 80% chance he would either: a) run it b) grubber kick and hope for the best or c) chip kick to himself. Option a) worked a couple of times with 2 line breaks in the 1st half but overall consistently poor decision making is what really frustrated me with Donald Duck's performance that night. |
