| I was really disturbed that for nearly 30 minutes the Munster players were out on their feet after leaving their guts on the paddock and we didnt move the ball wide until a couple of minutes to go. Thats pretty basic stuff and I blame Donald for that who I think takes too much on his own shoulders. He is a very dangerous support runner and would have made a lot better contribution had he flicked it on and covered for the inside pass....Munster was there for the taking through most of that second half. |

I think donald is just as good if not better than carter behind a dominant or solid forward effort. But carter is stronger behind a pack that is not going forward.
And I think that more than anything else is experience, carter has been around a long time now and he had the luxury of finding out what test rugby was like standing at 2nd five, Which is Ideal i think.
I back both donald and macintosh to go on from here and continue to improve. I dont think either of them had bad games anyway considering the freash nature of the team and the circumstances |

I find the old 'Donald got rubbish service from Weepu' a non excuse.
When Spencer was suffering under Marshalls 'fifteen seconds to decide what to do' passes, no-one gave him any slack.
Also, Donald played behind our best forawrd pack in Honkers and still looked poor.
Don't get me wrong, we have to give Donald chances but don't blame Weepu for his failings. |

Donald is a good player and with more game time he will get better as will Macintosh. some players take a bit of time to settle in like Hayman and Lomu
Im sure Donald would have had better ball if the starting pack was playing
A lot of the players played bad so would you want them to go as well ??
Only a few players played ok Messam the only standout
if you think that slade or brett are better than you must suffer from incestuous infantile gratification
Right now Donald is our best option. if the others step up next year than thats only good for the ABs
Right now brett and slade are not good enough since they are not in the ABs so if they are selected next year then we talk about them |

bretts good, bit injury prone, still questions over his defence
colin slade set the anzc alight,so did hosea gear and how did hosea play?? he got ball, and dropped it half the time?
donald will probably end up making
slade look like a 'boy' in s14,but we'll see!!?
berquist??hmmm, nah, not really the selectors favourite is he?...
not much to go with after donald
just the obvious brett and slade, not much to choose from
kirkpatricks another couple of years away from making significant inroads towards an ab jersey
you Can't just give the jersy to any odd person?! |

| Those who defend Donald I really hope u are right, because he is the chosen replacement for Dan. Im pretty sure the ABs will lose many games with Donald as the sole pivot. Donald was greedy, the centers never got a chance to show they aren't quality. Even when Kahui came on he got no ball, why? greedy Donald. If you go back and watch the game, watch how many times he takes the ball to far, gets shut down and gives away a turnover. The only reason Joe got a try in the final 5 mins is because Donald wasn't involved in the move, if he was, there would have been no try because he wouldn't pass it. |

Judy....is this a response to Macintosh MUST GO?
Not with you nor do I know who your post is directed at.
"if u watched the game as a coach like i did " - not very specific.
Are you an U7's rugby coach, NPC coach, 1st XV coach, intercity coach, stagecoach.... |

| its funny that that prop is in the irish squad and if u watched the game as a coach like i did u will find that he was boring in on top of him i suggest u go outside and stand in front of a concrete post and then charge into it that is wat its like when they hit.Another suggestion watch the cricket it may be up your alley |

haha, Jambiba is a Maori who hates Islanders.
Jane played pretty clean, outplayed Doug Howlett. It's funny, we were talking about Howlett the other day being a clean mistake free player but he had the worse game I've seen him play. |

Toeava was roack solid for mine if anythgin he was spending a lot time keeping busy and tidying up. Donald got platy of opportunitys to create attackng moves but more often than not decide to be greedy and if you don;t utilise your outside as you should then you can hardly cal anyone outside you hopeless.
Doanlad was pivot yes the service may ahve been not up to par but that said he had plenty of room and failed to read the play. Yeha give him time but hainvg others pay for a sh!t perfrormance? Nah don't think so.
No doubt we will find out who is likely to pay for that sub-par showing. |

toeava made some good carries with good off loads as well
played better than most of the guys
Apart from a few the whole team played bad but still won
more game time will only make these players better
it would have been good to see these players play again in another mid week game next week |

| Toeava is useless , Donald had an average game because he had a cr@p midfield outside him. who was it who said toeava hasnt played in the same position for the all blacks two weeks in a row because he has, he played centre for most of the tri nations last year. Mackintosh needs more experience, hes good but just needs more game time in the black jersey and when afoa came on he really made a big difference didnt he, not |

I have also watched the game again and got a different impression than when I saw it live.
Our pack were completely inexperienced and hadn't played together. They didn't cope with the leniency given to Munster at ruck time. Once big Brad came on he was able to settle them down a bit. Similarly in the backs it just needed Mils to calm things a bit. Nice pass to Joe (a huge sigh of relief) |

I'm not sure. Donald was pretty bad, but so was the whole team as a whole, in spite of a few individual performances (Messan foe example). The point really is, is Donald the best understudy to Dan Carter, and if not, who is?
The real key point to me that underlines the vast gap between the top and midweek players was the dramatic impact that Brad Thorne had on the forward pack, and Mils to the backline. That was a good try by Joe Roc (who had a great all round game) but it was Mils's decisive entry into the backline and perfectly timed pass that made it. Before that Brad Thorne turned the forwards into a stbale platform for the first time in the game and gave the backs good ball going forward.
I do agree that Macintosh looked out of his depth, which is scary when you consider that in reality, in spite of all the emotion and hype, they were an understrength club team playing one of the world's top internationals. |

| Stephen Brett's defence is only slightly better than Ronan O'Gara's (or Ronan Keating for that matter). Until he shores up the inside channels, he wont be wearing a black jersey. |
