Re:The lions in Africa Reply to this message
Just watched the replay. Good game although it wasn't up to the standard, both in terms of rugby and intensity, of the 1st or 2nd tests.

SAF will be very frustrated with their game, they didn't turn up or really fire a shot. The Lions won the game in the 1st 30 mins, got a lucky intercept a bit later and the boks simply didn't seem to have the desire to come back.

The scrums were a mess, Vickery needs to bag his kit up and never unpack it again, he simply wasn't interested in scrumaging. The beast was looking to bore in on Vickery, but a decent prop would have been able to combat that. Although the scrum didn't get much better as the game went on. I thought overall the Boks had the edge in the scrum.

PDV is an idiot, 10 changes??? go figure!! If he hadn't made that many changes the Boks more than likely would have won 3 nil. The sooner the Bulls coach takes over the better for the Boks.

Andy, when you got time can you give me your take on why the home unions don't seem to be able to play with the same intensity, skill and pride in their countries jersey as they do when playing for the Lions. You tried a few days ago but wiped your post before posting it.

Don't worry about the Welsh scrum Andy, ours has been way below its best so far this year, Williams is gone for the year, Woody is suffering from a long term ear infection and is debatable whether he will improve if he continues to play, and Tialata is really struggling for any form at all.

You guys must be fav's, you'll be at home, tails up after feeling like you should have won the Lions series, the AB's have been decimated by injuries and movements up north and we simply aren't the team we once were! You guys have to be fav's, in fact if you don't beat us with everthing in your favour it will be the biggest upset of the year.

Re:The lions in Africa Reply to this message
I don't know gvt, they had made 10 changes and I think we underestimate just how well the Lions played. Apart from the first 40 minutes of the first test the Lions were the Springboks equals in all departments, in retrospect the series could have gone either way. I definitely wouldn't say that either team looked ordinary though, it was top class rugby in all 3 games, the pace was frenetic.

Positives for SA, Du Plesis has shown what a force he is, Smit has shown he can foot it with the best playing prop, they have unearthed a superstar in Brousouw, he is just sensational. Fourrie has recovered from injury and looking extremely dangerous, morning stain may not have had his best game but has a very cool head and will do some good things for SA in the future.

The Boks got a hiding in the forwards and especially in the backs, very good win for the Lions. The Boks look very average without Burger and Botha.

Re:The lions in Africa Reply to this message
Dirty! Believe me when I say I am not making excuses, But our No1 tight head Chris Horsman has retired at 30 due to injuries, our No2 Adam jones has dislocated his shoulder in the lions second test, our scrums might be suspect, but who knows?

Andy

PS I have on times come on here to intensionally wind up fellow posters, That will stop.

I will right 100 times, I must not act superior, You're right I don't think I am Acting superior, that is untill one of you tell me how good you are and how awful we are.
Well I hope that ghost has been laid to rest,

Yes the No12 made the difference:0)))
I thought they all played well, I shall get up in the morning and watch it again this time in a more relaxed manner.

Yours Sincerely Andy.

Re:The lions in Africa Reply to this message
andy, andy, andy, "rubbish" is such a strong word, no, no, not rubbish, just not very good LOL, with the exception of the No12 who was superb and most definitely instrumental in the win LOL

But seriously, you come on these threads and stir up the locals with your superior attitude, yes andy, this may not be how you "think" you come across, but you do. When you do this andy you will of course get the "backlash", in so much as we might "want" to say complimentary things, but you make it very hard for us.

Not one man in the Lions didn't play superbly last night. Andy Sheridan was outstanding, as was Heaslip, O'Connell, Philips, S Jones, Bowe, Kearney, all of them are world class. Stephen Jones has really jumped up in my estimations, his distribution in the last 2 games has been superb and apart from one huge fend from Spies his defence was also fantastic.

In short andy, my overall view of the quality of the NH players has skyrocketed, if the home nations can capitalise on the success of the Lions then we should be in for a treat come November.

Re:The lions in Africa Reply to this message
Dirty, I think SA got out of jail last week, I will say with out Botha they are not the same team, I do have faith, But its been a very hard season, some players have had no time off in two years.
The character they showed today was immense, that same character is creeping through the Northern Hemisphere, Some thing they have not had before.

Re:The lions in Africa Reply to this message
andy, you should have had more faith in your team!!

Brilliant effort from the Lions, they certainly showed the world how to play " hard man rugby ", definitely a game that separated the "men" (Lions) from the "school boys" (Springboks) and showed just how "lucky" they were to get out of jail last week.

3 tries to ZIP, yep, says it all doesn't it!

Re:The lions in Africa Reply to this message
Not long now Bokes against the lions

!5 Kearny, will do OK, would like to see him come into the line more.
14 Moyen, couldn't finish a cheese sandwhich.
13 Bowe very good, but playing out of position.
12 Fluety some on her may know him better than I do.
11 Shane Williams, will be very lucky to keep his Welsh test place, huge lose of form.
10 Jones, steady.
9 Phillips will do what he does best bish bosh.
8 Heaslip only 8 left.
7 Williams a good scrounger on the floor, but a bit light to worry the bokes
6 Worsely, do I need to say any thing!!!
5 O'Conell has'nt really performed yet.
4 Shaw I thought he had a big game last week will want the same again.
3 Vickery I think he will do better this time round, but he needs to really make his mark early.
2 Rees might strugle without the welsh boys, scrum and lineout.
1 Sheridan, I've never rated him, but have been told he is one of the best on his day, needs one of those days, also he needs to do a bit of work besides the scrum.

I think its a case of last man standing for the lions, I hope its a good game.

Andy.

Re:The lions in Africa Reply to this message
Hmm, De Villers has made 10 changes, so I think these boks will be out to prove themselves too, There is always hope PB, but we have too many key players/positions out,
I think Vickery will do better if the ref polices the scrum like he should, but a game too far me thinks.

Re:The lions in Africa Reply to this message
I think the Lions will win this weekend. The Boks will take the foot off the pedal with the upcoming 3N in mind so i doubt key players will risk it all on a nothing test. The new lions caps will be fired up and wanting to prove themselves.

Re:The lions in Africa Reply to this message
Lions team for Saturday

15 Kearny
14 Moyne
13 Bowe
12 Flutey
11 S Williams
10 S Jones
9 Phillips
8 Heaslip
7 M Williams
6 J worsley
5 P O'Conell
4 S Shaw
3 P Vickery
2 M Rees
1 A Sheridan.

Subs
H Ellis, J Hook,
R Ford, J Hayes, A Wyn Jones, D Wallis, T Croft.

Seems to me that the coaches are giving every one a cap. not the strongest side, But I can understand some of the players might be carrying injuries, been a hard couple of weeks.

Should still be a good third test. although the boks should again win this as the lions have too many injuries in too many key positions

Re:The lions in Africa Reply to this message
Horak you say you recall 5 super 14 games on tv? Well thats not us fans is it?!Go and ask the public and they will tell it how it is, what does make me mad is when we lose, saffas come on here and say "i suppose its the refs fault".You say you blame yourself when you lose buts thats not what ive been told by a few of you saffas, they have blamed your coach esp lasts years 19-0 spanking. You come on here saying we are arrogant, mate its called passion for our team. Remember boyo WE are in NZ now not S.A.I can just imagine what you guys would call me if i ever went over there and started banging on about how great we are blah blah blah.Dont get me wrong Horak i like you guys and have respect for your team, dont mistake arrogance for passion.
