| Sorry to change the subject BUT.... How does the 3rd choice lock for the Hurricanes get selected to go straight to the AB's ?????? No offence against Bryn Evans I'm sure he is a nice guy but is he better than Eaton?Thrush? or any of the Locks that played regular Super14 or have International experience??? |

Donald needs to be persevered with. McAllister is not a world class 10 and I think is overrated at 12. Nonu is a more explosive option who deserves to keep his place. McAllisters stuff up in the first test shows that he doesn't have the nous to make good decisions that is essential for a top class 10. You must have an innate sense of what everyone around you is doing and react accordingly.
He is also lacking in game time. He shouldn't be with the squad now and should be sent to train for the air NZ Cup. He can then be considered for the end of year tyouir.
Donald is a class player who has the unenviable task of keeping DC's jersey warm. I expect him to step up for the tri-nations. We need to persist with him and leave him unchanged for at least a couple more games. |

Donald Duck is Donald F%&K! things are bad enough and if you have a 5/8 who is as bad as this then things can't improve because shyte is shyte.
He is ok at super 14 and backyard rugby but will always struggle in an era with Carter and Mac better tooled than he is.
Donald is not the go, he is a big no. Play him against Australia at our peril to do so has disaster written all over it. Play to win not just to compete. |

"darcy is *** e, ma'a is better"
In a physical sense few players can break the midfield open like Nonu, but all round traits of a midfielder taking into account possible combinations i would say D'arcy + 'O Driscoll tips Nonu + Smith. Of course Nonu is one of those who could be a great for the future but he doesn't make my top 5 for the 12/13 rotation because he is attack heavy and can be shown up in defense often. As a good yard stick compare his skillsets to some of our best outside centres Umaga or even Bunce before him...kick, pass is not all there yet. |

Top 5 midfielders in current circulation imo...(no particular order)
Jean De Villiers
François Steyn
Stirling Mortlock
Gordon D'Arcy
Brian O Driscoll
I would say that even at his best Mac would still be fall short of the level these guys are playing in hte midfield... |

Fair enough RC and Renee, I like xtra's option of putting Don at 10 and Mac at 12. Its not stupid takes the pressure of Donald, and Mac can be in his best suited position.
Dont get me wrong I know Donalds skill set is limited, but I do think he is better than what he has shown. Remember he is use to playing with another kicking option at 12. And france were no pushovers either, Don was under the pump all night.
Also agree with Renee Mac will prove he is the best 12 in the world by the end of 09. |

Yes, well please clarify your arguments next time or don't bring it up at all. Reputation vs Form is a double edged sword best left to those who will suffer the real consequences lol. Meanwhile...pass the chips would'ya... |

Hey! not once did i mention anything about Luke's snazzy do lol. All i'm pointing out is he's shown us how suckful his form is on return for the 3n....and this with 24 tests under his belt compared to Donalds 2. The rest i leave to you and your cousin Luke lol |

"Theres no gamble when the player you are talking about is a proven test player who just happens to be rated as one of the best mid fielders in the world by people who matter in both hempspheres."
Well, with a sweeping statement like that your obviously in the fanboy camp...had you said rated as one of the best 2 YEARS AGO...its 2009 mate, were talking about in form players in preparation for the tri nations and as of now hte only northern hemisphere team rating him right now is France roflmao...MVP.
If your in denial about public scrutiny then maybe it sounds like a panadol is what you need to swallow there buddy, could be coming down with Swine lol. |

Hay bmoose, don't think I'm just climbing into Donald for fun.
The guy was utter shyt in Honkers last year, poor last weekend and unbelievably bad last night.
He doesn't have it at test level.
I couldn't care less whether he's a Chief, Highlander, Blue or whatever.
The guy sucks and will cost us Tri nations matches for sure with his hopeless goal kicking, non-existant tactical kicking and average defensive play.
As to Toeava, no-one has defended or forgiven him for his ratshyt performance last week- he can pyss off and all.
McAlister is our only hope while Carter is injured- like it or not. |

"I'd be interested to see a list of the worlds best midfielders who you rate as being in MacAlisters league btw. This should be good...."
Why will this be good pi.xy....I don't think you even have a clue who the worlds top mid fielders would even be....
Anyway the following are IMO the worlds top #12's in no particular order.
Jamie Roberts
Gordon D'Arcy
Damien Traille
Jean deVillers
Derek Barnes
Ma'a Nonu
If I was basing it on Mac's form throughout 07 been the last time he played test footy, I would rate him the top 12 in the world.
Its a hard thing to rate him now as he hasn't been playing test footy, but based on his form for his club up north and what the other 12's around the world are doing, IMO Jean deVillers is a clear #1.
Nonu, Roberts and Mac would all be there or there abouts. But if Mac has extended game time at 12 for the AB's I bet he will be going head to head with deVillers for the #1 spot.
"so just take it as one of those hard pills to swallow".
Mate I don't know to much about swallowing, I'll leave that to you. |

bmoose, I don't mean to be just sla.ging the guy off, I think he is a good honest player but he has been found out big time during the last 2 tests.
My main issue is with idiots that are giving it to Mac for no good reason other than he's from Auck and they don't like his hair cut. |

| People like me?..lol you must've mistaken me for a Deans supporter...I'm just telling it how it is with the general public as well as the media when it comes to GH so just take it as one of those hard pills to swallow. GH is on alot of peoples radar after the WC loss and especially over his selection over Deans. If anything im more annoyed that someone of his coaching calibre would put his claim for WC '11 coach on a swords edge like that. Losing with an unproven, young team of up and comers most people could accept. Fast tracking a guy who is not ready yet and has shown he can stuff it majorly is something else that speaks about a persons judgement. I'd be interested to see a list of the worlds best midfielders who you rate as being in MacAlisters league btw. This should be good.... |

bmoosenz, those players you mentioned have already proven themselves against teams such as the Wallabies and Springboks.
I think something the AB coaches could try is having Mac play 12 with Don at 10. A simliar approach worked last year during the final tri-nations match. |

Someone has to stick up for Donald, so here goes........
Donald had a shyte 1st test last week! so, which AB didnt? Jane, and Weepu when he came on, nuff said. Those calling for Donald's head, should be deffiantley asking for Toeavas head then, this guy has sublime skills but chuck a black jersey on him and he cant catch the ball to save himself. And the conditions were nothing last week compared to last night.
2nd french test, Donald struggled with the kicks at goal. I think he can be excused from a subpar kicking display due to the swirling wind conditions, dont believe me how bad they were? How many highballs did Mills bomb last night?????? He is the safest 15 in the world, and watching him struggle makes you realise how tough it was. In terms of dropped balls, what about Smoken Joe? he fudged a few too, its what happens when you try to play expansive in the pissing rain, your gunna spill some pill. When Mac come on the ABs deffinatly had more direction, but I think that comes down too Weepu aswell. I though Donald was solid under the conditions, considering the frogs were standing in our backline (again) for most of the night. Give him another crack I say.
I know I am a avid Chiefs supporter, but phark you guys seem a little trigger happy on Don. |

I agree with renee, it wasn't Macs fault we lost that first test, nor any one player- it was just a rubbish perfromance from the team.
Donald is so bad he needs to be ejected from the ABs immediatley.
McAlister will be brilliant when he's back to his best and even if he isn't at his best- he's still 70% better than Donald Duck (rhymes with suck.) |

Its people like you and the pathetic media that would try and say that Henry would need to sacked if Mac didn't play well, everyone has their own agenda and very rarely these days that agenda seems to be supporting the AB's.
I don't form my opinions based on what the the NZ Herald says or what some ill informed talk back/posters say/write. And thankfully neither do the AB coaches.
One player doesn't lose a test by himself, let alone a series you idiot. Although Donald Duck went about as close as one player could go in losing that test for us last night.
Theres no gamble when the player you are talking about is a proven test player who just happens to be rated as one of the best mid fielders in the world by people who matter in both hempspheres.
What Mils said, as well as the 3 coaches, as well as every other team member I saw or heard interviewed was that the 1st 40 mins was what cost them the game. |

"What a pile of shyte, why on earth would you suggest that they have staked their reputation on him, thats just a stupid thing to say."
Why would it be stupid Renee? You know what will happen when Mac stuffs up and loses a series for us don't you? The media and the general public will lay the blame squarely at his selection and GH may all of a sudden be out of contention for the WC for bad decision making. Mac will live on and play another day...he's got a good excuse..."i was injured and got thrown in the deep end"... I'd say that's staking your reputaion on a gamble wouldn't you?
"Mate you carry on don't ya, one intercept pass didn't cost the AB's the 1st test you knob, the 1st 40 mins cost them the test."
Actually if you weren't watching the game last wekk perhaps you might of missed the part where the AB captain made remarks on THAT try 11 mins out that killed the hopes of any comeback...i tend to agree. |
