Well Bastaraud will be fired for the WC and he deserves it. I think more people should be fired but our federation is a bunch of old players and liars. shame on them. Anyway. Everyone complains about them in France and want them out. Please don't mix these guys with the French in general.
Personnally, I've had fantastic dicussions with some of your fans during our WC. It would be sad to see our mutual respect be jeapardized by a bunch of à =%/é guys at the French federation. |

it was all over from the moment he lied the first time. No way a bunch of Maori and Pacific Islanders are going to gang up and blindside a black french rugby player in Wellington. His original lie was so out of the twilight zone that the NZ Police decided to investigate. |

stephane, please try to put these comments in context. One poster came on here pretending to be French and completely abused everything about NZ and it's people. He/she went way over the top despite everyone else condemning the assault that we believed to have happened.
Once the lie was exposed this person continued their tirade and others responded.
I believe the comments were all directed at one person who wasn't French at all.
Generally most NZers admire and respect France. There is also the historical link forged through 2 world wars.
Please don't take the NZ overreaction personally. |

I LOVE FRENCH FOOD and don't let me start with their wine :-)
I agree, France is one of my top 5 most beautifully places in the world and i have not met a bad Frenchman yet. except this one. i use to think NZ was one of my most beautifully places until i actual went to more places than just NZ :-) NZ is a small Norway. But i ;ove France and the Alps :-) |

| Larskey, Seriously, Bastaraud can't "ruin" the reputation of your country because you've got a beautiful country with respactable people. Bastaraud was wrong; but he said he was sorry and I think he was sincere. Now the way the French in general - and as a nation - have been insulted for two weeks is a disgrace. Honestly I did not think the people of New-Zealdand could show so much hate against us. Not good at all. |

was sad to hear he is in such a bad state. But he made such a huge screw up.
told a lie that ruined the reputation of a country
sent our police force on a wild goose hunt
forced to come clean when the police found holes in his story
and that's just what we know, it's likely the french rugby union had to end up paying for the police investigation.
Reality is he is just a kid, 20 years old the french screwed up letting him go out till 5am or what ever it was
so they should take some of the heat. |

| How much do you know France to say this is typicall of the French? In France we wouldn't have made such a big fuss about that if a Kiwi player had acted like that. Do you lack self-confidence of what? Bastaraud acted badly and at first I thought he should be banned forever. I've always had a lot of respect for your country. But judging on all the anti-French comments I read I think I must have been wrong. Now I think Bastaraud, who is a great player, should stay in the national team. Just to show you that - while I totally disagree with his behaviour - that we are the ones who decide, not you. Too bad though because I've always thought that the relationship between French and Kiwis supporters was fantastic. |

Point of view of a French guy:
- Big mistake from a young (stupid) player
- The story is not over, drunk and fell down in his room, doctors from the french squad said he was severly injured. How can you bit yourself alone and so much? Think he's still lying and surely protecting other french players.
- He must be punished ASAP.
- Don't worry about you WC, you hace a beautiful country, nice people and you got good chance to win the title. Be proud ! |
