I wouldnt say tuquiri incident was the same - that was a deliberate uplift in the tackle.
Whereas with the BOD incident I dont think there was any intention other than getting him outta the ruck. I he hadnt been injured I dont think anyone would even remember this incident.
I dont see the relevance of the ball being out - that type of carry on happens in every game, its only cuz BOD got hurt that anyone paid it any attention. Im sure im you analysed any ruck in that much detail you could find something wrong.
Bearing in mind most kiwis wanted to see BOD play, at that time he was the best centre in world rugby, would have been good to beat the lions with him there in all 3 tests ;) |

| Agree he did, but what umanga did was reckless and could've broken he's neck. My Big issue with that was that the ball was out and then only did he cleared him out. It's water under the bridge but just trying to state my point. When Tiquirie cleared McCaw out EXACTLY the same as Umanga did, he got banned. Double standards and the whole of NZ got on the back feet and complained. We need to play the gamy by te rules and if we do that, the spectators must also know the rules and "Spectate" that way. |

I had a lot of respect for BOD before that incident, guess he had just been hanging out with whiney poms too long!
Absolutely nothing wrong with bothas 'charge', why the hell was this cited? Just cuz someone got hurt!

Interesting quote from dallaglio on that clip horak
"Its time the players looked at themselves & stop blaming everything else"
BOD went into a ruck with a swinging arm (10secs on the clip) so he got what he deserved. He should haved heeded dallaglios advice & blamed only himself |

| He won't miss any of the Tri Nations matches. Only the final test against the lions. But again its a pretty bad call considering that this goes on all the time in rugby. |

| It's because he's the most feared player in the world and he's made a name for himself. So when he do something they always think the worse. :-( |

| just watched the clip of botha's "reckless" charge. There is no way that should have been cited, if they were going to cite that there is about 10 other instances in every game played where someone hits a ruck like that |

Please watch this video clip. Look where the ball is and when the clear out happen. And if you do not agree that this is a red card then, really, you must not know anything about rugby.

| Well said Eugene. It's in the laws and ANY couch want to see that from his forwards. It was perfect. The time and the body position. IF you know anything about rugby you will agree. BUT Burger on the other hand should have got at least 10 - 12 weeks. Anything to do with the yeys or jumping on someones head (Ali Williams on McCaw) must get an automatic 8 weeks ban. But unfortunately it only hapens to some players :-( |

The Italian guy and Burger should be gone for the season at least. Filthy shyte like that deserves to be punished, 8 weeks isn't enough.
Bakkies is a hard man who plays on the edge, some would say dirty, but he doesn't eye gouge etc. He just cleaned out a ruck, lining someone up at ruck time is part of cleaning out. It ain't tiddly winks.
Horak, I can't believe you are bringing the Umaga thing up. You'll start to sound like a whinging pom, or welshman as the case might be on this thread.
Whatever you think Umaga should have got, people forget, or don't realise is that the Umaga incident was reported by the citing commisoner and ruled on by an independant international commitee, no NZer's in sight.
Umaga or Mealamu have never been known as dirty players, infact Umaga won an award for his actions when Colin Charvis stopped breathing after a Jerry Collins special. |
