I didn't have a Saffa in sight when it came to my front row. A Welshman, an Australian and a New Zealander.
I think a lot of posters get swayed when a player produces one good game, hence why they picked SAF front row. I have watched those the SA guys pretty closely in the S14 and years gone by and I don't think they are world beaters, prior to the 1st test I thought the scrums would have been pretty even.
The biggest thing that I have noticed watching the welsh forwards from afar is the change in their body shapes. 10 years ago they all just looked like fat slow pudgey club players. Since GH got involved and subsequent coaches there after they have obviously brought a professionalisium in weight training, diet etc that was missing.
You now have some athletic loose forwards and your props have a fair amount of muscle mass as opposed to the rolly polly thing they use to have going on. |

Fernandez Lobbe would have been my 8 if I had seen him play of late, I have'nt so Parisse is a very good 8
As others have said Renee this team will undoubtedly change, but right now I can only see one AB that would make it,
The only reason I never put some Argies in the front row is the same reason I never picked Lobbe,
last saturday the SA scrum went up because of pressure the same reason they went back, wheeling the scrum is down to interpritation I agree, But the SA scrum was well beaten, yet still the majority of posters here put them in their world 15. I haven't seen anything better than the Welsh front row as a unit, thats why they were picked.

Your teams a pretty fair selection Andy, I quite like the look of it. Don't agree with some of it but every player can be argued for and against.
If the following Kiwi's were fit and playing then I would have them in my team DC, McCaw, Sivivatu, Woody and Williams. I think most objective observers would have those guys in their team if they had the form of the last 2 or 3 seasons.
Also I think Mortlock is a better 13 than BOD.
I liked what I saw from the French 6 when he played us, hes a top notch 6.
Botha Captain??!!
All Welsh front row??
The idea that you can only find 1 player from the best team in the world from the last 5 years says something about your objectivity, but like I said I like the look of your team.
"5 meter scrum Welsh front row pushed them back and up. scrum in the middle of the field, Welsh front row pushed them back, next scrum Welsh front row wheeled them 180".
Hard case observation on th above scrums. Considering the week before you were complaiing about the Boks scrum tactics. Pushing back and UP is illegal, something you were complaining the beast was up to, wheeling the scrum intentioanlly is illegal as well. But hey you get away with it fair play I say. |

I never mentioned NZ players andy- you did.
I'll be the first to agree that on current form only Muliaina would make it in a world 15.
I also agree with horak that this can (and will imo) change after the Tri nations. |

Not bad either :-)
only one i really can't agree with and it's Mtawarira. He's really not good and the first test he scrumed illegally. He scrumed with an angel and upwards. Second test he was not alowed to do it and they pushed he's head up his behind. I'm South African and it takes allot for me to say that but it's true. To many players play the ref and not the game :-( |

Chamhagr,Botha needs the rough edges honed, I think he might make a good captain,
As for Kearny yes he did play well last Sat, But Byrne has been carrying an injury for most of this year, put the two of them on the same field and byrne would come out on top 7 from 10.
Mortlock, BoD, like every thing else I have writen just opinion.
Regards Andy. |

I also thought about Bakkies as captain :-) Well if he talks you must listen he is after all the most feared player in the world hehehehe
i think Mills was the only stable and standout player for the AB's the last 5 years and will always have him in my team. He's never got a bad game.
BOD is a world ahead of any other 13 in the world. He's one of the biggest crowd pullers of he's times and i think he's got links to the IRA :-) |

Horak, I expect nothing less, It was either the French front row or the Welsh front row and as we beat the french front row in last years 6 nations I thought it prudent that I should pick a welsh front row.
