Yeah I agree jefferson, its a bit of a worry when the team rely on 1 or 2 players so heavily.
GH spent 3 or 4 years building and developing the depth we had in 06 and 07, much to the annoyance and constant sla.gging from a hell of a lot of the rugby public, but now half of them have packed up and gone north everyone is sla.gging GH again saying asking why hasn't he done more to develope depth??!! Who would be the AB caoch?? |

We shouldnt have to rely on McCaw and co. to get us out of the ABs current form. I reckon that situation sux.
It wasnt long ago that under henry we were able to field two entirely different AB 1stXV's. If i can remember one went to argentina to play the pumas and the other stayed back for a couple tests with the irish. We won all those games and both those teams would probably beat the current AB team too. |

| i'd go with weepu at first five for sure ... really good goal kicker too ... and he captained the mid-week team on the end of year tour last year ... so I can't see why they didn't exepriment with him in the early matches ... Henry calls him the AB's top bench player ... but if the game's gone by half time a benchie is not gonna make much difference ... |

lol @ crutabs: "...abs need a year of hidings..."
that would probably work, but im with the logic that its good to win all your games.
Its all in the head.
So if they have to go thru the wilderness to get to the promised land then so be it i guess.
But im sure theres a better way.
Anyone know where that way is? lol |

ill feel more confident
with Piri Weepu at 1st 5
in the Tri Nations
then any other player
Dont care if he didnt play their
during iveco series
Donald,Nup
McAlister,Nup
Piri has the nuances & skill to play
the position & the AB selectors shouldnt
hesitate to play him their,
id even select Colin Slade with confidence. |

Dont worry Lads
The loss of McCaw last year for a couple games was huge and his return was even bigger. And this year we have McCaw, So'oialo, Hore, Conrad, and Sitivini returning, DC is also a chance in the final couple games.
If one man last year made that big a difference lets hope the return of these stars will have an even bigger impact. Im sure it will.

I agree with larksea. The two main problems are at 1st 5/8 and center. All other problem positions have returning players.
C Smith is supposed to return but how fragile is he?
1st 5/8 could be our undoing. look at the quality our 2 opponents have to call on. |

as for personal I think the biggest problem is in the backline
Sivivatu and Wulf will likely take over the wings, which will be a huge bonus.
But with Smith and Kahui out and nonu not firing it's a bit of a worry.
Would be easier if Toeava & McAlister were on fire.
The Return of Hore, McCaw, Rod & Sivivatu should spark the fire the all blacks need. It's just a shame these guys are going to be going into their first test of the season. They'll surely be under done. |

I'm not too pessimistic about it.
I'm thinking it could be a repeat of last year, we'll lose a couple of early matches then storm back (especially when we get our injured boys back) to contest the title. |

Looking sort of bleak for the all blacks heading into the tri nations but I think the guys will be ok when a few personnel return to the team like mccaw, boric, sivivatu, hore, conrad smith
maybe a couple of players from the junior all blacks to come into the all blacks squad
south africa is looking dangerous and so are the wallabies, what is new zealand going to have to do to win it this year, it's gonna be a hard slog without dan carter, what do you guys think? |
