| The Highlanders have always been struggling financially though, weren't they going to get the plug pulled on them last year or something? The fowards in the highlanders showed alot of potential this year so its a good move by the NZRU to keep them afloat. There's more than a few future AB's there. |

| thats good of the nzru, perhaps if they still want to drop teams from the anzc, they should consider the highlanders instead of northland |

The New Zealand Rugby Union will bail out the Highlanders franchise, financially underwriting the org an eyes ation for the next three years
In exchange for the financial backing, the NZRU will have a greater say in the running of the struggling Highlanders, following a review into its governance and operation.
The Highlanders board is to be restructured to consist of three NZRU-appointed directors, three appointed by the provincial unions from the region and one by the Dunedin City Council.
NZRU boss Steve Tew says the changes are intended to improve the on and off-field performance of the Highlanders and ensure the franchise operates in a sustainable way.
whats up with that?...and whos next? |
