I read on the main yahoo rugby site, which annoys me because the threads are all related to league and soccer so you can't go direct to this board, that aside- a columnists says talk about riffs in the Aussie camp and brings up one of my concerns I have mentioned before re Aussie rugger and this is the business about Lote Tuqiri-I know RC can't stand him but I'd pick him for one of the wingers in a world 15 vs the Universe and a dead cert for the Woollabies. He goes looking for work holds and presents the ball well and is strong and a big unit in the tackle and safe under the highball and OK on defence as most wingers at that level can be. I'd put him in the J.Kerwan league of wingers. I think the team DOES miss him no matter what misdemeanours and personal habits he had off the field and attitude. Still you can't cater to prima donna kebabs all the time and keep warning someone without consequences-unless he's a good player. Yes, he was getting on but still keen to play and that is priceles in any player and the WC was a good incentive. All that is lost.
But I wouldn't have lost him in the first place-the team definitely needs him.He had a rugby brain and had good anticipation plus he never gave up,I like that in a player even an Aussie-esp the Rats of Tobruk attitude. i don't think Deans had much say in his dismissal, fait accompli. |

Mark,Yeah the try was dodgy wasn't it.Even I'll admit that.
It's just been such an average year for Oz what with an excellent build up against France and then some really weak performances agaist you guys and the Boks.
Here's hoping for a good NH tour by both our sides |

| Also Sprouster, I agree with you about Lawerence. I think usually he does a great job as a referee, but had a shocking game. Well maybe not shocking but it was far from his best. Although I think he may have kept you guys in the game with giving that try out of frustration! (I would have said Hynes lost control but then again, I'm from Canterbury. Canterbury people are pretty one eyed I hear!) |

| Actually, Thompson's tactics are fine. A lot of referees make the mistake of penalising him because of how he pilfers the ball, but they are wrong - he has all rights. You make the tackle, get up, go for the ball, you instantly have all the rights. Although he got penalised during that game right when the referee said hands off, he had only just gone for it. It's a game of split seconds. |

| Sorry sprout, I'm with the others on this- the Wallabies were missing G Smith or Waugh at 7- Pokok is solid but McCaw massacres him- Smith/ Waugh can at least keep him in check somewhat and pull a few tricks of their own. |

(McCaw only cheats when he's wearing red and black.)
Bloody oath m-fam!
However, take away the red and he's a master of breakdown play. |

Aussies held on to the ball too long on the ground and the ref let them get away with it |

tsprouster, you're dreaming. Everyone has there hands on the ball until the ref says leave it alone. The attacking team has their hands on the ball forever.
In regards to the scrum penalty. This was for Australia illegally screwing it by the tighthead pulling back and then everyone walking around. |

Oz has a few grievances and rightly so imo.
Particully Richie McCaw/Adam Thompson.
I know i'm going to be shot down in flames here but McCaw gets away with blue murder.
On 5 or 6 occasions he could have been yellow carded and Thompson wasn't far behind either. They were on the ground slowing the ball with hands or entering from the side of the ruck right in front of the ref.
I normally rate Lawrence as he lets a game flow but a few of his interprations were right off.
One that stood out was Ben Robinson being immediatly penalized in a scrum for his hand touching the ground for a milisecond and bang 3 point to carter.
Credit were it's due you controlled the game and took all the right options however,Some of the infringing play was really cynical and especially a few mtrs from the line.
NZ were the far more enterprising side and deserved the win but that win wont strike fear into our northern neighbours. |

I agree with that statement
If henry missed out on the AB job after the 07 world cup and deans had taken over. And henry had gone to coach Aussie (which I believe he would not do anyway)
IMO Aussie would be a much better team than they are now under deans. maybe not to the point where they would win a tri nations but would not have lost 7 in a row to an AB's side coached by deans.
Of course that's just speculation though. |

| RUGBYCOLUMN you're on the money bro... that's exaclty how it is. CANTS cult of persoanlity DEANS days are numbered. I challeneg anyone pn these threads taht would have put up with DINGO'S results. The sulk is runnign out of excuses. I would actually back henry to get an AUSSIE team together and NAIL the ABS with DINGO at the helm. That's how much I rate and have always rated Henry from day oe albeit I would ahve preferred he was at the helm by himself but I'm not complaining roll on the Mighty Black Machine... If the US ever get serious about chasing this game we're all toast |

From the article
Deans -
''Can anyone tell me what the penalty count was?'
''Well, I'd be surprised if it wasn't well and truly in favour of the Wallabies. I know the first six penalties - four of them were in the red zone - and there probably should have been a couple of others where the ball was lifted out of the rucks one metre short of the line,'' Deans said.
''That was frustrating, particularly when you're playing a fixture in Tokyo where you're trying to promote the game. I don't think it contributed well to the game.''
the All Blacks getting away with far too many illegalities at the breakdown, including pilfering hands in the ruck, while their captain Richie McCaw often acted with menace from a repeatedly offside position. Again McCaw was a ''protected species'' and certain Wallabies are getting peeved by that, believing they do not get the same privileges.
Deans's complaints are justified. Lawrence did the Wallabies no favours. The number of All Blacks in the sin bin should not have been restricted to one
Several other New Zealanders should have also had 10 minutes' rest, the Wallabies could have experienced greater rewards.
The Wallabies are now wondering if it is just part of the deal of playing Bledisloe Cups at neutral venues in Asia - last year Irish referee Alan Lewis stitched up the Wallabies big time in Hong Kong with an abominable performance
SORRY BUT YOU LOST FAIR AND SQUARE OZZIE SOOKS!!!!

Wasn't accusing you of that mate- but there's more than a few (most of them are absent and will stay that way unless the ABs stumble on this tour) who think like that.
I don't think Henry is perfect either- some of the players selected for the tour just plain suck and have no business in black- but I'm certain no-one could do better than him atm. |

(The Wallabies hung with the All Blacks for a good while again, but they didn't go the whole hog. You can't blame Deans for that can you?)
Funny thing that, when the ABs couldn't keep up with the Boks this year it was all Henrys fault, he's stale, get rid of him- but for Deans, it's his useless players that can't get it right, he's done nothing wrong.
Do you see the hypocracy here? |

("Seriously" the ABs are such a good team with so much talent and depth available, they would be better off coaching themselves, maybe we would even beat the springboks the odd time??)
I would try to answer your idiotic remarks such as the one above whackoffa or what ever your name is but you're clearly a moron.
Seriously. |
