I thought the welsh attack looked org *** ed but lacked flair and imagination.
They just sort of made a big line of numbers and put the ball through it trying to crete gaps with weight of numbers |

Good points made muggie but I'm noticing that some of the senior players who were pretty lacklustre during the Tri nations (Thorn, Hoare, Mils) have played way better already in the past two tests.
They should be up to par come the France test and Guilford will run riot in the Baabaas match if he plays (and I can't see why not after that great performance against the Welsh).
C Smith is becoming a bloody great 13 and if I can dare to suggest, may well eclipse Mortlock in a year or two.
The constant booing of Carter was disgusting- he is probably the most clean player around, he'd never take a guy out head- high on purpose.
The Blacks will peak just in time to hand out a rugby lesson to those froggys. |

I think the Welsh played a relatively good game. Not good enough to win, but good enough to come close. I think the major difference was support play - when a Welshman made a break, their support was nowhere near them. That intercept was beautiful - if it had been possible to make it to the line, it would have been something to celebrate for the next 50 years! Got shut down though - by the time he turned to pass it was already too late, and he probably should have just gone as hard as he could for the line instead.
ABs really need to buck up their game. Some good play by Zac, Dan and Ritchie; Mils looked better than he has in a while, but overall it wasn't the performance we expect from them. Wales can be proud though - they gave it their all, and showed a lot more flair than England did against Aus. Man, the English were dire! |

I have just got up, on my 3rd coffee I enjoyed the game, not looking for excuses the better team won, Someone mentioned the pomes would give you a better game I watched the game in a pub with some of your country men (Aus Eng) england were dire, you will beat them quite easily
What sets the ABs apart is the top 2" they have the ability to think on their feet, we have lost it, what was once a great Welsh trait has been coached out with
game-plans
First half, the kicking game
Second half, the attacking game while starving us of the ball, the first 30min of the second half we hardly had the ball when we did we would kick it back to you.
As for Carters High tackle it was the younger element in the crowd that did the booing nothing malicious there me thinks.
To score a try you have to cross the line and place the ball or touch it with any part of your body. There was some NZers sitting by us and they said cant give it every time.
I must say the Welsh defended their line as if their lives depended on it.
Thats all for now I will sit and watch a recording of it to get a better perspective.

In my amateur view the welsh backline passing looked good and their attacks and counter attacks looked better than ours.Maybe that the wait and see defence by the AB's made some runs look better than they were. But yes we deserved at least one of those disputed tries and if Leo was deprived of a try right under the sticks then surely in the opinion of the ref a try should have been awarded.A few late tackles on the AB's also went unnoticed.
Some of the kicks were not well covered by the AB's and we were lucky that a good many were taken clearly but the catcher needed support behind him for those that were spilled.
Carter's tackle was a bit unnecessary-he still could have clobbered him without the stiff arm,it definitely tensed up at impact,still in league terms it was a nothing and didn't warrant the boos,apart from that it received nothing from the assistant refs.Still as this thread will continue into the next century oneday Wales will.... |

well done to the all blacks on another win overseas:):) have yet to concede a test try on an autumn tour since 2006.
guilford showed that if you really want it you have to perform - and he really did perform. he showed hunger for a youngster and really did give his all ans showed that he really does want to be there for a long time. . . rocket and sivi better train hard over the summer:):):) lol
amazing defence from the midfielders and mccaw showed that he is still the man ....
welsh were lucky - leonards try should have been penalty try cos the welsh on the GROUND was playing at the ball as leonard tried to pick it up and score.... yes and that replay (the best angle i might add) of conrads try was only shown once for like 0.5seconds .... did gats and his entourage get to the TMO during thpse replays? haha it clearly showed smith and the ball and surely part of the ball grazed a blade of grass:):):) lol haha
and the welsh - millions of replays of carters high tackle will not buy you a win.... you need to score tries boyos:):) lol
they took confidence from their springbok tour with the lions but still cant beat the all blacks (nearing the end of their season) and even in front of their loyal fans:):)
so well done to mccaw - well done to ted and his assistants and well done to the welsh for trying....

Yeah I was thinking exactly the same thing about Guilford RC. He was the best winger on the park. There is no way Roks will get back in unless he finds his form of 4 or 5 years ago. Mils had his best running game for ages as well, looked far more penatrating than he has done all year.
Our depth is superior and all that, but that Welsh team had far more experience than us, and 12 of their starting 15 were on the recent 'all conquering' Lions tour which the NH media and fans were all saying showed that they were as good as the SH.
I really don't want to hear exses from them which is all you hear when you beat them. The only thing they have to complain about at the moment is DC's tackle, as if that was the difference in the teams!!!
We had far more of our top players missing than they did, the sooner they stop making excuses, real or imagined, the sooner they will beat us. |

| ABs played down to Welsh level and only did enough to win.Zac Gilford was very good apart from the 3 disallowed tries the score flattered The Welsh it could of been 40pts to the ABS!!!!!!!The Welsh were boring and the ABs were average by their standards which is still good and cnt wait until they meet The French and the Poms ,thats where the real rugby will be played. |

I thought the Welsh did very well considering the injuries they had.
I know the AB had their share of injured and suspended players but NZs depth is superior.
That Guilford amazed me- he was playing like a three year test veteran he backed himself and did what he needed to, Sivi can justifiably be nervous and Rokocoko had best be hitting that training paddock if he wants any chance of returning to the black shirt.
Lastly- commiserations to andy, it wasn't the 25 plus hiding I was predicting but if the Welsh can play like that during the sucks nations, they will be the team to beat. |

That was a good test, I really enojoyed it. For me it had the appeal of tests from previous years. TBH I am sick to death of playing the Boks and Aussie. Beating dingo and his bunch of losers has got boring.
Wales played really well, although its typical of NH teams and fans the way they carried on after DC clipped that boyo high. It was just pathetic, reminded me of a bunch of school kids.
As others have pointed out the Welsh lad that kicked Leonard in the head was far more likely to receive a yellow card.
I don't believe that he intentionally meant to kick Leonard in the head, but it was very careless having a kick at the ball when someones about to dive on it. A bit like DC's tackle, careless, but unintentional.
All the periphery stuff aside I thought the Welsh hung tight when they looked like the AB's were going to run away with it. I think they should have run the ball more. The AB's kicked so much of it away, they had plenty of opportunity to attack more but got drawn into a kicking competition.
Likewise the AB's kicked to much away, but won the break down pretty comfortably which was the difference in the teams.
AB's getting over the try line 3 times to be denied 3 times was pretty lucky for Wales.
The one angle that showed Smith scored was only shown once and only very quickly, and the one where Leonard scored could have been a penalty try as the Welsh lad laying on the ground had about 5 goes at the ball trying to roll it out of Leonards reach. I'm sure Andy will equally have some gripe's!
To beat the AB's you have to score tries and for the 2nd year running the Welsh didn't get any, and they didn't create enough chances themselves.
The Welsh will feel like they are getting closer, however I think that confidence is misplaced and they are lucky we didn't take the chances we created otherwise we easily could have scored 3 or 4 tries.
Really good test though, thoroughly enjoyed it. |
