| Ahh the old padded arm wraps...yes, they make it feel therapeutic when arm connects to jaw. They was a time when the refs didnt allow us to wear them back when i was playing league because it was obvious too many guys were acting out their semi pro wreatling fantasies on the field. Sigh...those were some good times.... |

You got your wish Tbob, DC has been banned for 1 game.
You say he should have been red carded. Well sorry but I can't agree there. Replays (and didn't the welsh show plenty of those?) show the tackle was high but it was more of a case that he went for a smother tackle and the arm slipped up. Deserved a penalty definitely, yellow card? not sure, red card? no way.
Compare it with Sivivatu the previous week. That was reckless and premeditated. He was yellow carded and banned for 1 week. Are you saying that the Carter tackle was worse than the Sivivatu one?
As to Bakkies Botha, I actually agree that He shouldn't have been sanctioned for THAT offense, but I've seen him hit plenty of players late and high without any penalty. So I'm afraid the "Bakkies was hard done by" line doesn't wash with me.
Compare that to Carter's history. Never been yellow carded, never been cited previously and rarely penalised. Don't you think there is an element of tall poppy syndrome here? |

rugbycolumn
I have no intention of discussing personal details over a computer website, but I do look forward to a civilised discussion without barbs been thrown or childesh nonsense
and I stick by claims that daniel carter deserves to be suspended for that illegal high tackle, he got his just desserts as far as I'm concerned. |

| You see, that's the thing with you kiwis, you can never put a fair argument across or specify a point without being put down, laughed at or jeered by you people, I find it rather disrespectful. |

| Bakkies botha come from the hind most, from the back of the scrum to clear a lions player during the test series between bokke and lions and was then suspended for doing his job, daniel carter takes a player out with a high tackle shot and gets off freely, I'm glad justice has been served and carter got his just desserts with a one week ban, it should have been more then one week, he got off lightly. |

Croockett and Guildford will start for sure IMO
something happened in the scrum later on in the game and I'm not sure what the cause was. Obviously Tialata went off then Donnely went off and at some point for some reason it turned to c r a p. I would have to watch replays of scrums in the 2nd half to find out exactly what the problem was. But that will be a focus for his week for sure and may result in some changes. |

Time for Zac Gilford to shine while Sivi is on the sideline, cnt wait as for Woody he has a good year but not the stella performances of recent seasons.I dnt think we will lose much with Woody out with Ted taking the forwards now Afoa will do the job.
Teds coaching the forwards has been what us Auckland fans have been waiting for,he is the man at coaching forward plays,we saw it with Auckland when he had them and the Blues with emphasis on the small things and just tweek the things they do well |

| A ban on Sivi was a bit much. It was an incredibly poorly timed move, yes, but that's what the yellow and red cards are for. |

Don't worry guys- it's only Wales!
It's not as if the ABs will be playing a quality team made up of skilled players.
Instead of a thirty point hiding, it'll be a twenty-five point drubbing.
(I hope to christ andy reads this).
As to Sivi, the guy frequently goes from hero to zero on the field (or the other way around).
Last night was unforgivable though and that fool could easily have got a red card and while the ABs would still probably have won, it would have been tight.
But Jane is bloody fantastic- Roks will be sitting at home contemplating a move to France if this keeps up. |

| Sivi had a total brain explosion and probably deserved a red card. Woody ? well as Tana once said 'We're not playing tiddliwinks", and I'd lay odds that some oz dirt figured in it somewhere. Anyway this paled to insignifigance to good ole rugby that was played by West Coast and Nth Otago. |

I can sort of understand Sivi been suspended, but surely a yellow card at the time is enough.
But Woody getting suspended is rubbish. We didn't see what happened at the end there but obviously something did, woody is a clean player and for him to get suspended because he was the one lucky enough to land a clean blow is not really fair.
Its a physical game and the IRB or whoever are the ones responsible are unrealistic if they think there won't be the occasional blow up. It ain't tiddly winks?!
Afoa to play loose and Franks to play tight.
Won't happen though, it will be Tialata on the loose and Franks at tight. |
