Like I said Southland have all the positives and plenty to play for.
Canterbury will finish top anyway and have a diminished team.
The Shield is harder to defend than it is to win.
I'm torn over this one. I would like to see Southland win the shield and make the semis but I never like to see Canterbury lose. |

Canterbury have lost 8 players to the ABs.
They are guaranteed top spot win or lose.
Southland have lost only Jimmy Cowan but brother Scott is pretty good.
They are playing for a semi final spot.
The Ranfurly Shield hasn't been to Invercargill since Capt Cook was a schoolboy.
Personally I won't be too upset if it does go south. It would be a huge deal for the southerners. |
