| Team looks choice as bro...Henry should not have played a full strength team against the poms but i guess he's taking one game at a time.... As for jane and Mils.....no contest there, Mils has proven in recent games that he's still our # 1 full back. When the going gets tough,a cool head and experience may save the day. Richie needs a little more outing with the other 2 new loosies so they can play like when the " hitman, Rodie and McCaw used to light up the rugby field back in the days ( them were good old days )I'd have Roder at 8, Tialata and Mils on the rugby field in France to have a better chane of beating the frogs.. |

Key areas of interest for me are
The Scrum, I look for Owen franks and Tony Woody to dominate their opposites
Carter V Wilkinson, These two will decide the outcome of their sides fate, be interesting to see how they balance their running and passing game, Wilkinson is a keen defender and if he focuses too much on trying to keep Nonu at bay, Carter may fancy his chances of looking to exploit the space left by Nonu
Attack, The All Blacks back 3 need to be at their best when under the pump from high kicks, for counter attack to be worthwhile in now days environment it requires an increased demand on precision, particulalrly at the catch and the subsequent breakdown, so I'll be watching with keen interest at these aspects of the game. |

Ah the intricacies of neutral referees.
Wayne Barnes, an Englishman, get to decide who England get to play in the Semi Final of the Cup.
Barnes did a great job for his home land, and assisted them into their third World Cup final.
Is it any wonder he is held in high regard up there? |

Andy, Wayne Barnes may well be a good ref but us kiwis have very long memories and I dare say we won't see him in any other light unless he awards us a penalty try to win the RWC final.
We are still griping about the Bob Deans try that wasn't awarded against Wales in 1905 (Bloody Scottish Refs!). Oh and Andy Haden was definitely pushed out of that lineout too:-) |

Paddy said that he witnessed the scrums form the ariel shots, How the Fark was dic-kinson supposed to do that on the field.
There are many up here who think Barnes a good ref, perhaps Paddy realizes that too. ;-0))

Yeah I know, and most would htink Paddy would favour the AB's but he is a professional been paid by the NZRU do to a job for all countries.
When Wayne Barnes had the worst reffering display in history in 07 against us Paddy wouldn't hear a word said against Barnes, he said he got all the right calls and AB fans were just moaning sore losers etc.
Based on that Paddy obviously has no issue calling it how he see's it whether thats critising the AB's or backing them up. |

I agree with you Renee England wont roll over but, they are in total disarray, I expect you to win this one quite easily,
They have so many injuries and at the moment don't seem to have any direction they don't seem to know what type of game they should be playing.
If you don't win this one at a canter you may have more problems than you think.

Im quite surprised mcalister hasn't got at least a bench spot, even though mcalister never really got a chance to break the shackles against italy, I thought he had a better game then ellison
hope thomson doesn't give away too much penaltys, he needs a haircut or something so he goes unnoticed by the officials , great to see zac guildford get a start, all in all, looks the goods, hopefully the scrums are sorted and we can see some free flowing rugby |

Cowan plays the best positional and defensive game... Leonard has the best pass, and has a great darting run... Weepu plays defensively well around the fringes (like a loose forward and has the best kicking game)...
Ellis is there by default because Weepu is at home having his op... But he is a shocker... any halfback that gets caught behind a maul when he is shaping to pass, needs shooting... |

I dont know, last year I wondered if it was his connection/combination with carter that saw him being prefered.
he's a smart player and works hard on the field, follows the ball and backs up well.
but to me he's slow to clear and his kicking game is far far far behind Cowan, Weepu and Leonard |

Agree there larks. Leonard needs gametime, I sure hope Ellis hasn't overtaken him in the selectors opinion.
I expect Dan to be pulled pretty smartly once the game is safe. He needs to be fresh and fit for France. Donald should get 20min at least if all goes to plan. |

I like the lineup
Good to see Boric get in the 22 again
dont like the fact Ellis is there again... I really dont see that he offers the All Blacks anything special right now. Missed a chance to get Leonard more game time and get his mojo back he does not look too far away.
Tialata & Jane Are being rested they will surely be back for france
Good to see Guildford & Franks get another run, these guys are the success storys of 2009 for the All Blacks IMO
I hope Donald gets a run, give him some confidence going into the french game. |

Normally yes, top players will test how much they can push the limits with the ref and play accordingly.
We have all seen games where teams live offside (Italy were and good on them for getting away with it).
Unfortunately Doing the same back to Italy in the scrums wasn't an option. Stu wasn't so much letting things go. He was penalising the innocent party. If the ABs had tried to match the illegal play, it would have vindicated Stu's bad decisions and may have seen more cards issued. |

Thompson provides a better balance to the loose forward trio. Kaino and Read are to similar, Thompson adds a different dimension.
Tialata is being rested for this game, but he will start against France, they don’t need to start their number one front row in this game, but they will need to against France. |

I am saying that if the All Blacks scrum doesn't function against England then fingers will be probably be pointed at Franks and he doesn't deserve it.
I am saying he has had hardly any rugby in the last 3 months and training is no substitute for playing.
As for the coaches I wish instead of complaining to teacher every time something doesn’t go their way they would actually instead beat the opposition at their own game
In top line international sport all players cheat and try get away with as much as they can so if you can scrum illegally you will. Isn't it better that if the opposition tries it on and ref does nothing then we do the same back to them. |

Kaplan is the ref. Good in that a) he's a SH ref and b) we know his style. He is supposed to be one of the best so let's hope he has a good match.
I thought it was classic of Paddy to say when the refs get it wrong they should own up and work on improving.....Like you did with Barnes, you mean? |

Good team, interesting that they have gone with Thompson, clearly he is now the prefferred #6. I really thought they would have gone with Kaino's strength and defence against a big team like the poms.
I'm glad they have gone with Franks, I went with Tialata in my team but I kinda made that selection because I thought the selectors would. I prefer Franks at tight over Tialata, continue the development.
c4, there is no problem at scrum time, there were 2 or 3 of us on here after the game who must be ex / older front rowers who at different times explained what had gone wrong.
Obviously now Paddy has come out and backed up what we were saying.
Wyatt could have done better than he did, but he will learn from going up against someone who was getting away with illegal stuff like the Italian boy was, and like I have said heaps on here since the game I thought when Tialata moved to loosehead he owned the Italian scrum.
The ref simply had no idea what was going on, guessed and sent the wrong guy off.
Saying stuff like
"Feel a bit sorry for Owen Franks. This is his first game in 5 weeks and only his 3rd game in 10 weeks and he is supposed to solve all the scrum problems"
suggests that there is a problem and there isn't, and 2ndly it's another cheap shot at the coaches suggesting they don't know what they are doing and its a knee jerk reaction to the Italian game. Do you think Franks is feeling sorry for himself?
I bet you that they had a fair idea what the team to play Eng was going to be before they left NZ.
The team will go well, the scrum will go well, I think it will be a bit tighter than what Eng's form might suggest.
Eng against the AB's at Twickers, they will be up for it thats for sure, hopefully the boys get the chance to throw the ball around and score some tries, need the ref to Police the rucks and keep Eng from lying all over our ball. |

c4ever77, he has a great attitide and will be chomping at the bit to get on the field, and with Woody and Hore he has some good experience up front with him, and with Thorn behind him he will feel secure...
This is also a third string English front row (they have been hit hard with injuries) and considering he came through a scrumaging test by the SA front row with flying colours, I don't think we should be too worried about this... |
