those jelly beans used two home ground advantages to spring board their attack on the all blacks....and soft away games to australia....that is all....
they had a DREAM walk in the WC....any of the top 3 teams could have won in that position......
as i say good on them for wining at home and then playing a well fought match against the ABs at home....that was very very close.....they targeted the TRIS this YEAR to go with the WC.....because of home ground adv anvantage....
next year they will show again like they did TRAVELING....and playing over seas....
over confident jellybeans with a super boot.
...SORRY..Sooooo ENGLisH...and boring.....LOL... |

I agree about tbobs post- good on you mate and we'll see what happens next year.
bokskings isn't even a Saffa, he's an Aussie who also posts as storminglis and likes to stir it up.
Just like neil probably isn't even a cantab (he's from the Waikato I reakon).
Heh, heh. |

Very gracious post Tbob. The results for SA were bad but I think someone alluded to the fact this team peaked nicely for the Lions and Tri nations series. Most also played there hearts out in Currie Cup so I guess there wasn't a lot left in the tank heading up to Europe.
Lets hope they get a good rest over summer and we see more great matches next year. Who knows we might give you closer games in 2010. |

class post dude
South Africa have had a great year, during the tri nations were easly a stronger team, stronger than they were in the world cup too. And for sure had the wood over the All Blacks scoring some rare victorys.
But IMO it was a case of the AB's being very much a work in progress and the Boks performing much closer to their peak after rule changes that suited their game more. The AB's had more room for improvement but as always with potential the hardest thing is actualy realising that potential.
As a NZer it does hurt losing 3 games to the boks this year but there is great consolation in winning the world #1 ranking back off them and even getting a few points in front by demolishing a french side that had the better of the boks and winning 6 test matches in a row.
South Africa got the silerware and NZ got the results and the top spot. Bring on 2010 :) |

| Leaves a bitter taste in my mouth to see the way bokke played on their european tour, I congratulate the teams who have beaten my team fair and square and I also apologise for some of my fellow countrymen and their sore loser attitude, on the day, we just weren't good enough and were beaten by the better team, yes that includes club sides as well , congratulations to them also, well done and a great effort, I'm afraid success is measured by on field actions and not what you have achieved in the past, clearly we were an embarassment as we represented the tri nations teams, many best wishes to new zealand who looked absolutely fantastic against france, tremendous exhibition of rugby and I congratulate you for regaining number 1 ranking on IRB list. |

Hey fellas
Nice to see you mention the Almighty Irish as we defeated the reigning tri nations champions , confirming our status as the best northern hemisphere side of 2009
this is an unbeaten season for us and one I am immensely proud of being a paddy boy, also baring in mind that we are yet to defeat the powerful All Blacks, that victory would make me a happy man and I guarantee I would drown myself in flagons and pints me dear friends, but that is for another occasion,
for now I will gladly sip away at my pint of guinness and celebrate the derailment of Australias grand slam campaign and the defeat of the Africans, as us nordies know, the southern hemisphere are always the sides to topple to gain notoriety and recognition on a world stage, one day we will gain that major southern hemisphere scalp of the All Blacks, maybe not in my lifetime, but one day it just might come if we play well enough to deserve it,
will call again someday chaps. |

| The Irish are very lucky the blackout didn't hit Croake park this year- or that perfect season would have had one big blemish on it. |

One particular statistic that doesn't lie is the following rather telling one.
Number of times that Ireland have beaten NZ: ZERO, nil, none, not a single time.
Now tell us again how Ireland are the best team in the world. |
