| You're right but just remember that 440,000 pounds was a record then as well [ Dalglish ] and most of the others were bought at what were considered ridiculous prices then too so it's the pot calling the kettle black when your guys were one of the pioneers. |

Yes, the money is obscene but it is private money NOT govt/public money. If Real Madrid believe they can win the UCL, La liga and sell millions of shirts and seats and other merchandise as well, then they may even make money from the Portugese diver.
I personally loathe politicians and councillors awarding themselves generous salaries paid for by tax and rate payers. But if a private individual or company want to spend that sort of cash, that is their business.
But I do agree it seems crazy.
To avoid games, all clubs could sit around a table before the season starts and disclose their bank balances. The club with the most money is awarded the league title. After 40 odd games, the league often finishes in that order anyway. |

| its all rubbish! soccer went down the pan back in the late 80s when it became more about money than the game. I used to go and watch Liverpool when Dalgleish, McDermot, Clemence played and it was safe to take your kids, it was a family game, but not anymore. I mean how the heck can anyone be worth 80 million pounds on transfer?? its not as if they are saving lives or anything good for mankind, they just kick a pigskin full of air around a pitch. its disgusting what they pay these soccer players yet our nurses, doctors and emergency services personell get poorly paid, something wrong here!!! |
