It was a succesful tournament. Good skills from all teams and good games. The All Whites could learn a lot from them lol dissapointing against fiji. Hope to have a better result next time. Now bring on 'bend it like Beckham' this weekend

what negativity are you talking about. everyone has praised the efforts of the NZ team and the standard of football in the tournament.
wipe the chip off your shoulder and enjoy playing the game.

It's time this code introduced full time hooters instead of this age old, outdated, 'refs time' scenario. How often do we see games going for 94/95minutes, sometimes longer. Time to modernise.

usa great win over the germans, pommie girls lost to koreans again, this time the northern persuasion,in pool play got done by the south koreans, but good comeback against the j apanese, ill back the n koreans in the final but the usa are peaking at the mo,i think the more interesting game will be the playoff for third, eng vs germany(more traditional rivals)

watched the korean, england game, thought the koreans made the pomme lasses look ordinary, skooled them in their own game, out of all the teams they look the fittest, fastest+most skilled, they should make the final maybe against the germans.

Re:U17 GIRLS WORLD CUP. Reply to this message
wharfie- stick to your argument and don't go off pointing out our spelling errors and lack of question marks. FYI Neanderthal is spelt Neandertal or was when I went to school-but what would I know I'm in a soccer message board and I'm a diehard rugby supporter and you guys get upset if soccer is called that(soccer)instead of the beautiful game or association football whatever. I see the girls still think it is a legitimate part of their character building to take a player out if they dare to get past them and do a late tackle even in the penalty box. What type of sportsmanship is that? Is this the type of people we want brought up in this country? Hell no, a good punch up would happen in league and union if this happened as much as it does in soccer-it is an accepted part of the game. In rugby less so in league an automatic try would be awarded to the attacking team and the player sent off. Rugby players do give away penalties to prevent a try from developing but rarely after a player has been beaten in a fair tackle or been sidestepped does he try to foottrip the opposing player. No wonder soccer is such a low scoring game. Rugby was a game that brought all classes together in early NZ unlike the hoodlums of England and Europe. It is that type of class prejudice that I don't want in this country and one of the few sports that all races of NZers still paticipate in-more so in union than league but that sadly is another story.

i wouldn't go saying cricket is obscure/mock it in front of most indians or pakistans(xtra says that the word for the people of pakistan contains "abusive language. what?)- you will pretty much be killed on site. they take their cricket SERIOUSLY. india even have a minister of cricket in their parliament.
and you can't really say that it's an obscure sport to begin with, seeing as those two countries have huge populations!!

i really shouldn't mock soccer cause i love cricket, but soccer is just so easy to mock.

NZ does have Football talent but only at a junior level. Once the kids reach 12-13 years old theres nowhere for them to develop their skills. I think if the Goverment would put some money into an Academy then within 5-10 years you would see NZ able to compete better on a global scale.

Re:U17 GIRLS WORLD CUP. Reply to this message
NZ has no talent in soccer thats why we cant compete against the best teams if we did than we would be right up there but we're not. Australia realized this thats why they are playing in a different competition
you might get 2 or 3 good players and the rest below average
Nzers have talent but definitely not in soccer
we are just there to make up the numbers like many a lot of other countries
i would love for them to have one awesome year where they beat some of the best in the world. nothing better than seeing nzers win
now have you ever left your toilet seat or is that where you sleep, eat and do everything else ?

Re:U17 GIRLS WORLD CUP. Reply to this message
stunning_fool; NZ does have talent but these people have to compete with millions of others. Several Kiwis have made a living playing football overseas. Rugby neanderthals only have to compete against against a few neanderthals. I can't really put it any simpler. Maybe you can ask one of the bigger kids to explain it to you.
I'll answer your question;"question: if nz has more people playing soccer than why are we so useless at it "
(Most people put a question mark after a question)
The reason NZ don't do so well at Football is because it is a global sport and many many countries take it seriously. So a small country like NZ will never be up there with the big guns. That is exactly the same reason NZ excels at an obscure sport like rugby. Most countries can't be bothered with such an idiotic neanderthal sport.
Look at NZ; rugby, rugby league, netball and cricket. We can't compete on the world stage so opt for the easy way by adopting obscure sports that most countries have no interest in whatsoever. Sad, pathetic..... but true.
Have you ever left your village and travelled or does your village require the Village Idiot on site at all times?

Stunningly_inbred;
Question; If NZ doesn't like football, then how come more NZers are registered with football clubs than rugby clubs?
It seems you are trying to avoid answering.
Now run along, the bell will be going for lunchtime soon and remember to empty your lunchbox.
