Woooosh! Right over your head!
Team sport, individual sport...it doesn't matter.
To achieve in a global sport either individually or as a team is a real feat. To achieve in a sport like sheep shearing or rugby means nothing....because nobody cares!
It ain't rocket science!

Good morning nz sports fans. Great to see the phoenix get a point last night, if only that last goal counted it would have been a happy night for sure. I am sure everyone had a good nights sleep and today should be a cracker of a day for sports in general.

I see a post has been made directly to me. Wow, my words must be pulling at the heartstrings of many sports fans out there.

I dont know but it seems you 20/18tofrance have logged in under a different id. Must have lost concetration after reading my piece yes? For that I do not applaud you.

I really dont like pointing it out but there is a difference between Individual sports and Team sports. Now I know as adults we can see the difference but i'll reiterate it to those who seem confused.

An example of a team sport is Football ie. Wellington Phoenix. A team of 11 players playing at one time trying to achieve a win.

Now I dont know about some but I am pretty sure Usain Bolt ran the 100m sprints at the recent world champs as an individual. Although he is part of the Jamaican athletics team, he himself will receive the accolades such as the 100m champion title.

To compare my beloved football to individuals like john mcnroe and co is quite disturbing. Fot that I do not applaud you.

But then again, the english do play as individuals yes? No wonder england and its football fans have suffered. Gee 43 years and counting.

Im stoked for nz football. It seems some have no idea what nz football is about. Must be the english mentality.

scary, once again you have shown how little you know about football. Anyone can type drivvel about wanting NZ to do well, being a supporter of NZ football etc etc, but when it comes to the crunch, you are woefully inadequate.
Take your line "Dont know what his contract states in regard to representative football but I do hope is beneficial to nz football." A demo of how little you know.
Then a thinly disguised attack on the English team. I am not English by the way.
The difference between the English failing to qualify and the all blacks failing is very simple. Football is global. Now think for a minute what that means. Competition is hard, even for a top team to qualify. Portugal may miss out on next years world cup. It is that tight. One bad decision or mistake can cost qualification.
Then on the other hand is rugby. Hardly anybody cares about it so it is much easier to become the number one ranked team. Can the say number ten ranked rugby team beat the number one or two? When you get past tenth, the scores become annihilations. Not so in global sports.
To be highly ranked in Football, tennis, marathon running, cycling, athletics, swimming, etc actually means something because you must compete with other competitors from around the world, representing countries that take that sport seriously.
Rugby is taken seriously by a few countries so at the end of the day, to be highly ranked or to win the farcically named rugby WC, means absolutely nothing.
I know the truth is not nice, but someone has to spell it out for you. Sorry it had to be me.
Now, how many people are attending the Air NZ Cup games this weekend? Yahahahahaha

Thank you 20/18tofrance for your reply. It is encouraging to know that you show a passion for your chosen sport rugby. Trust me on this, it is refreshing to know that you admire what I post up and that by dissecting every phrase or sentence that I type up, you seem to overcome your demons and talk sense in a sporting genre. For that I applaud you.

It is great that the all whites do have a chance to make the 2010 football world cup. That is where my passion is right now. Now I am surprised at your lack of knowledge in regards to nz footballs national team but I guess your eye is on the other code yes?

Yes nz football has had problems over the years, but we are still coping and still kicking along. It is great to have the all whites skipper playing in the English Premier League, but I would like, like many others, to have him around pulling on the silver fern more often. Dont know what his contract states in regard to representative football but I do hope is beneficial to nz football.

As for the english football team, well I really feel sorry for their fans. Missing out on Euro 2008 was by my view the most disappointing day for the english fans. Im sure you would have no idea because you were tied up with your chosen sport yes? Well for your knowledge, they spent millions (in pounds I might add) which in nz dollars would be a lot yes? and they failured. With big name stars, they failed miserably. At the 2006 football world cup, I wont tell you, oh well why not, you probably saw on telly the sight of D.Beckham sobbing in his chair while his team crashed out of tournament. Must have been hard for the english fans yes?

Now, dont get riled up from my post. It is purely an adults forum and I hope this doesnt get you down or anything. Just hope you enjoy your weekend of footy (In any code).

Hard luck to the phoenix though, at least they got a point.

Enjoy your week nz sports fans.

Goodevening twenty18tofrance, what a great name! I can still see the "big tough manly" all blacks crying like babies after one of those games v France! That was the game of the year! When arguing with imbeciles you must expect name calling and continual refferences to a$$ and h0m0 stuff ( rugby players have a fixation on this! )

tamahoukamausflowers, I can honestly say I have never heard of these world famous players you mention. What is their weekly salary? The reason I ask is because NZ soccer has All White skipper Ryan Nelsen, who plays for Blackburn in the EPL, and is on approx $100,000 per week.
So how much do your two fat clowns get? This should be a hoot!

NZ soccer would love to have a player with as much fame as Greg Murphy or Chris Amon. Alas it is not to be so soccer will sadly continue to rate well behind motorsport in this country.

dachiropracter17,

Yes, a real mastermind!

Have you noticed how many of these new User IDs come from Waitakere? I make it 15. Now I'm not saying that this is all the same person (although they all write the same stuff!), but they must breed them funny up there!

Yahahahahahahahahahahaha! !!!!!!!!! Priceless!!!! Losers!
Come on, name this team ranked number 200 that NZ drew 0-0 with. I predict you will not be able to. We shall see! Yahahahahahaha!!

Yes, the nz all blacks are the biggest national embarassments to NZ of all time.
the all whites aren't expected to win because they play a global sport, but the ABs are ranked number 1 in about 6 countries that take rugby seriously and fail every time!!
Yahahahahahahahahaha!! The biggest losers in NZ sport!

scary, scary, scary, you poor child... sorry adult...

Don't you think it is rather sad keeping a list of enemies??? It is not a very grown up thing to do, is it?

Yes I must confess when I was a child I mixed with other children of my own age. Not quite sure why you would find that disturbing. Still, maybe it's because my mind is not in the gutter!

And yes, wow! scary knows a lot. I hear hundreds of football books all over the world are now being rewritten to include new information about the game that to this point as only been known by you. How do you do it? How do you live with the burden of being the brainest person on earth... sorry, make that the universe?

Oh and scary, old wise one, sorry to bring this to your attention as I know you must be very busy answering questions from the media etc, but I would like to point out, if I may and with your permission of course, that the NZRU have also wasted millions of dollars trying to help the ABs win the RWC. I know you have a lot on your plate and you hum, just kind of forgot about this... sorry!!!!!!
