Thank you 20/18tofrance. It is pleasing to see that you show passion for your chosen sport. For that I applaud you.
No you are defitnitely not dealing with a child my fellow sports fan, but if you have in the past, well thats quite disturbing. This thread is for adults and Im pretty sure you wish to take that statement back. For that I do not applaud you.
The only one upset here is you my fellow sports fan. Notice how I do not mention nz sports fan. Because you definitely have a distaste for anything nz but would your utmost to protect anything english. It must be hard being a pommy excuse me I mean english but the facts are for all to see.
With millions of dollars the english still cant win a football world cup even though you suggest they play in the most respected competition in the world.
1966 was the last year you guys won . But then again only I can comment on that because I am the football fan and not you right? English football fan have been in hiding for 43 years. Which explains why you feel the need to stand up and be counted. For that I applaud you.
Maybe you'll keep hiding away but you cant hide away forever yes? But dont worry, nz is great place and we follow all sports here in nz.

scary, I see you are now writing about me on yet another board. I am getting a lot of attention. And I must apologise as I didn't realise that I was dealing with a child. No adult would make a list of their enemies and then post it onto a message board. Quite sad really!
Oh and I now see that according to you that I am now four people. I am doing well. Anymore people that I'm suppose to be? The Pope maybe!
Just for the record, I was actually born in France but brought up in England. But that's ok, I rather be called English than be called an All Blacks fan!!!
Oh and I see I upset a few people by mentioning the ABs record in the RWC. Shhhhh, I will try not to mention it again. It's like taking away their security blanket. Don't mention it and they can pretend it never happened!

Thank you 20/18tofrance for your devotion to the topic at hand. I never knew you had so much admiration for what I post. For that I applaud you.
It was encouraging to know that you acknowledge that you are from england and that the scrutiny placed upon english football has managed to put you out there as the defender of anything english. Fot that also, I applaud you.
I'm not kidding about nz football or football in general. You may think I'm not a football fan judging by certain posts yet you seem to put a lot of emphasis in proving me wrong.
For a guy who seems to love rugby you too have a lot to say about football esp. the EPL but nothing in regards to nz football. For that, I do not applaud you.
I guess its you who is afraid of me. But dont worry, I only speak the truth and thats all that matters yes?
All whites have failed since 1982, but I still have faith that 2010 will be a blessing in disguise, oh I yearn for the good old days. This year is make or break for nz football.
The close loss to the reigning champions Italy was heartening but we also slipped up against Botswana. Not good. But hopefully we have learnt from the confederations cup matches. I am sure Ricki Herbert will get his A into G or else he will end up on the s.c.rap heap.

scaryface, you are only kidding youself (or maybe one or two others that know nothing about football). You say your number one priority is NZ football. Is that why you go on about the All Blacks playing in front of 80,000 in Australia? Is that why you go on about how you wish the All Whites were as good as the ABs? Come on admit it, you have no interest in NZ football, only to belittle any achievement by the All Whites by saying it is not as good as the ABs. I was brought up in England, but I have probably seen the All Whites play more times than you have!
But it's ok to go on about the ABs, I know you are really a rugby fan. But that's ok, I like rugby too. So just for you I will talk about the All Blacks. Favourite topic, the All Blacks in the last five Rugby World Cups. It goes something like this:-
1991 LOST
1995 LOST
1999 LOST
2003 LOST
2007 LOST (20-18 to France!)
I've got to hand it to the ABs, they are consistent!!!
The three rivals they hate the most are Australia, England and South Africa. Why? Because they have all reached the final more times than the ABs! Furthermore the All Blacks have only won the cup when it was played in their own backyard, unlike Australia, England and South Africa who not only have all won the cup in a different country, but also on a different continent and in a different hemisphere. Something that the All Blacks can only dream about and will have to wait until 2015 to try again.
For four years we have to put up with how the ABs are the world's greatest, but then it is all worth it when they come home empty handed again!
The best thing about this scary, is that according to your logic, you can not disagree with me because there will be a conflict of interest! |

Looks a bit hostile in here. Sorry you fellow sports fans feel that way. But just because I know more than most on this football thread, I believe that whatever I write will always be scrutinised by those who feel threatened by my absolute expertise.
You see 20/18tofrance, I believe theres a conflict of interest in what you say simply because you are an englishman defending the english players.
Dont worry, because more players from foreign countries will dominate the EPL in the near future. A true football fan you ask? My first priority is nz football. Thats something that you have forgotten. You have no interest at all about nz football hence your defense of anything english. What would you do to help save nz football? Would be interested in what you have to add.
As for your side supporter dachiropracter17, he seems to pop up everywhere, but I am sure he is a devout rugby fan. So I advise that you watch out for this id because he/she could entice you to nothing more than a 5 second rant.
As for Scarface_weka, I decided to change my attitude towards sports other than football. Dachiropracter17 must be a pretend fan of nz football, but then again you wouldnt have noticed yes?

Yes, it is easy to see who the genuine fans are and who the pretenders are. I was under the impression that scaryface is a female, not sure why?
I hope you are not including all rugby fans as the same, as you may have guessed from my user ID, that I also follow rugby! Although I know that there is a lot of fans from the UK like me that follow more than one code. There isn't the same hatred between the different codes over there as there seems to be here, just a little bit of friendly rivalry. |

scaryface, it appears you need to go back and read my previous posts. I did not say anything about not understanding a word that you wrote. I said that you do not understand football. If you did, then you would know it's history, tradition and culture. It is not difficult to pick out the genuine fans from the pretenders.
For example, any true football fan knows that introducing a cup for provincial sides is a non-starter for football. I know that someone else has already pointed this out to you, but it is totally against football culture. A true fan would know this.
You mention the 80,000 attendance that watched a rugby match in Australia. Why? They have bigger stadiums and a bigger population. What has this got to do with NZ attendances? Man Utd attracted 90,000 when they played there a few years back. The All Whites played in front of 60,000 in Singapore, and there wasn't even a Singapore team involved. But again, what has this got to do with NZ attendances?
English football has always been popular around the world, not only since the introduction of overseas players. Any true fan would know this. You find the England national team boring, then maybe you need to blame their Italian coach! It is quite clear from your posts, that you know very little about the game you say you love. |

Sorry to hear that you dont understand a word that i write 20/18tofrance.
I have great understanding in most sports but football is number 1 for me. I do know england as a football team is as frustrating as watching george bush reading to the kids while his citizens die from terrorist acts.
English football in general does not bring excitement to anyones house. You know that and I know that. Maybe you have been offended and I do apologise but thats just the way things go.
Ask anyone who their favourite player is and most of the names you wouldnt be able to pronounce properly because most will hail from countries other than england.
The EPL acknowledges it needs players from foreign countries to sustain an exciting image, hence why it has appeal to the rest of the world. They even have new zealanders laying in it which says a lot.
No foreign player goes there to play the english style of football, they go there for the money and dislay the skill they have from their own country.
