druss,
Take my advice and learn more about the game.
As I said before, English football was hugely popular before the international superstars came into the FAPL (note: it is not the EPL). |

druss old wise one,
You are not making a lot of sense here. You say that the English style is boring and dull and is influenced by super coaches and super stars from other countries. So it is the super stars and super coaches from other countries that are making it so dull and boring!!!!
The trouble is you are trying to write about a subject you clearly have no knowledge (or very little knowledge about). Do you know anything about the history of football? Do you know that English football has always been hugely popular around the world and that most countries around the world have copied the Football League and the FA Cup from England? Do you know that all this happened long before the international superstars ever come into the FAPL?
Go and read a few hundred books on the history of the game and then come back and try and tell me about football. It is clear that you are out of your depth. |

druss & scaryface (or is that scaredface?),
Sorry, I was unaware that you have problems with reading English. Maybe it's not your first language, so I will make it simple for your brains to understand.
I am not saying English Football is the best. I am saying it is exciting to watch. Do you understand so far? Should I type slower, so you can keep up?
If it is skill that you are looking for, look no further than the Brazilians. Great with the fancy tricks. If it is well orangised play that you are looking for, then look no further than the Germans. Great for winning cups, not so great to watch. But if it excitement you are looking for, then look no further that the English. English football is full of thrills and spills. This does not make it the best, but it is exciting to watch.
druss insists that English football is dull and boring to watch, but he can not explain why 211 countries show it on television, making the FAPL not only the most watched football league in the world, but the most watched sports league in the world.
And scaryface never understood football anyway, so least said about that the better.
See that wasn't too hard to understand, was it? |

The english players are not good and they do not influence other great football nations. They should be excluded from nz football because they really are that boring.
Yes of course they make up the english team but the other indivduals from other playing nationas as you have mentioned bring their own versatility and skill to the EPL. Drogba and co dont play english style. Everyone knows that.
1966 was the last year england won a football world cup. They will never win another one in the next 50 years, believe me. |

My golly gosh!!!! You are far more ignorant than I thought!!
The English football team is made up .....of English players!
The EPL is made up of so many different nationalities, including NZ, Aus, sth Korean, Romanian, Dutch, Portugese, brasilian, italian, Scots, J@pan, Togo, Egypt, Ivory Coast....get the picture?
The players, when playing in England, play the English style.
I can't believe that had to be explained to you!!!!!!!
Ha, and you call us idiots!!!!!!! |

English style football is full on attacking. That is why the EPL is the most watched league, in any sport, around the world. The EPL is watched all over the world.... just like the Air Nz Cup!!!! hahahaha NOT.
Druss the slayer, you really don't know what you are talking about.
As for Italian football.....yawn, zzzzzzz
I am wondering which games from Brasil, France, Italy or Argentina that you have watched. I see you ommitted Spain.
Seems once again, your views oppose the majority on this planet.
And before you accuse me of being English, I am not. |

druss,
Yes, the English style of football is so boring and dull that is why it is so popular around the world, yeh I can really see that. English football may be a lot of things, but boring and dull it is not, this comment could only come from someone with no knowledge of the game.
Where is New Zealand Football going to get the money to get top international players/coaches to come over here?
And no I didn't talk about saving soccer, in fact I never even mentioned it.
So you don't hate soccer, you just find it (in your own words) 'very boring to watch', compared to rugby (again in your own words) 'absolute cracker to play and watch'. Why would you bother coming in here? The same reason so many other football haters do, to stir up trouble. Oh and I almost forgot... you idiot! |

druss,
English Football is boring? Is this why the FA Premier League is televised in 211 countries, making it the most popular league in the world? More popular than the star-studded La Liga (Spain) or the Italian Serie A. And if you think this is all down to the overseas players in the FAPL, think again. Even back in the 1970s before the overseas players, programmes such as Match of the Day and the Big Match was shown in most countries who had television, and the FA Cup Final was also shown in almost every country who had tv. The reason? Because English football is exciting to watch.
No disrespect to the English players, coaches etc overhere, who give their all to the game, but they are not what you call international class. New Zealand Football simply does not have the money for international class. So if they replaced the English with French or South American players/coaches, they too won't be of international class and of a similar standard to the English. Which would mean that football in NZ would be no better off.
Not sure if it's your xenophobic views of the English or your hatred of the game or your lack of knowledge that makes you write such rubbish. |

Sorry i am not an imposter Dach, I am just throwing around some ideas to boost interest into nz football thats all.
Dont you want provincial teams? It would be great. But i think the problem lies with the numbers. With the disaster of the new zealand knights who never had a crowd so to speak, we did not want that to repeat hence the move to wellington.
Phoenix are doing alright but we need the next tier of players to come through.
nz football fans turn on the telly and only have the phoenix to follow. Compare that to the 14 teams in the air nz cup, it would be great if we could follow. |

Scarey, you have just admitted you are an imposter, because if you knew anything about football, which you obviously don't, you would know that 'provincial teams' have no place in football. Football fans are not interested, and going by Air NZ Cup rugby crowds, it looks that rugby fans are not either.
I see no point and would not go either. Club and international only for football. Duh! |

It would be great to run a similar model like the air nz cup. Provincial teams could be entered from southland all the way to northland , like the air nz cup.
We saw the failure of the football kingz and the new zealand knights. We cant repeat this disaster.
Right now we have to settle with the phoenix, which are doing alright.
Oh how I would love to see 80,000 fans watch an all whites match. |

No! Football wants more spectators, not less!!
Keep your pathetic Air NZ Cup model! The sight of empty stadiums is now synonomous with that competition!! |
