| How do you know that's just how the world sees it? You make these statements that are very sweeping and again are not backed up by evidence. |

like it or not, thats jus how the world see's it!!
We win that, it justify's the invincibility, mystic, all black aura, that already is there, partially, because of that hurdle alone!!!!
Us, as kiwi's, have to savour any win to second that, too many questions, unanswered, I tell you what, if we don't win it 2011, here, it'll probably go down as the AB's,Holy Grail..look, but don't touch.. |

| I agree fully Nic. Why bother playing the other games if they don't mean anything? It would be brilliant for the AB's to win the Cup but I wouldn't want them to lose everything else to get it. M4, I was simply pointing out that your comments were factually incorrect during the 80s and into the early 90's. To say the Boks were the dominant team all the way up to being kicked out of the international scene is simply an error. Pretty much the wins against NZ were all on SA soil and vica versa for NZ. They were on par and were part of the 'big three' when Wales were at their peak. |

| Ideally the best team in the world would be ranked No1, and be the RWC holders, as is the current SA team. However, if i had to choose between winning the RWC and being permanently ranked 1(as the AB's should be rightfully) because of winning percentage against all comers, then I would choose the latter. To have the RWC as the one and only indicator and pinnacle of success devalues ALL OTHER GAMES played between, and this can only be detrimental to the game. |

| that 10 percent, is the only percentage, 100 percent, the world remembers til the next 4 yrs, within that time, that 90 percent, is long gone forgotten!!I don't know what it is, but there definetly something wrong, wheather it be interior, the system, the exodus of exp. players, the rotation thang, the strange early departures, of key players from Lomu, Umaga,J Collins,I Maka,A Pene..etc..,too much rugby within the year, have a 3 mnth rest period maybe..who knows?? |

its ok mate... when the boks came back to the international scene in 1992 they got beaten by the aussies, all blacks, in 1993 they lost the series to the aussies, they lost to england france you name it... so yeah i dont think they would have made a difference if they participated...
i'd rather watch the all blacks win 90% of their games - than losing a lot and making it to a rugby world cup final.... |

| the all blacks have got to stop placing emphasis on winning one-off games against opposition for losing the last world cup. The English stated that the all blacks are suffering from a syndrome of breakdown at the key moment of pressure like the world cup. I once thought this ridiculous. But from 1987 to present its starting to become believable. |

| took S.A. 13 years, to grab the RWC twice, now you can't argue with that, looks as if they've sussed out the apartheid problem,I wonder if NZ would tolerate a maori govermnt, politically united, they have managed that within their rugby...(I'm on the outside, looking in)...thats what it looks, on the outside?? |

Actually No, the people who don't take drugs remember back to 1987!!!
Also, perhaps you can tell me how many Maori players were allowed to tour over to SA before aparteid ended?
And why you are at it, perhaps yu can name the "international" refs that officiated the games? |

| At the end of the day it was South Africa's own fault they weren't at the '87 & '91 World Cups. You reap what you sow. |

1980"..the bok's, who, in those day's, were a better rugby power than AB's"
More Bollocks! How can SA be a better rugby power in 1987 when they weren't a rugby power at all as they couldn't play from 1980 till the after 1991. That's 7 whole years that they didn't play before the 87 Cup. Not to mention the fact that the last test series between NZ and SA prior to SA getting the boot from internationals was won by NZ 2 - 1. |

"thats why they say the rugby world cup, really started in 91'"
What a load of bollocks!! Who says it? South Africans do maybe. The IRB officially ratified the 87 World Cup when the idiot SA coach in 95 said the same thing. The South Africans don't believe it started till 95. Just because one country missed out doesn't mean an event didn't happen. Was Expo 88 not a true world Expo because SA couldn't have a display? No. Would the Soccer World Cup not be a true World Cup without SA? No. Is Euro 08 not a true Euro Cup because England isn't there? No. |

| This whole thread seems a little premature to me. Trying to predict the winner of the world cup nearly 4 years out is like trying to predict who'll win the Melbourne Cup in Feb rather than November. We don't even know which horses will be in the race. Same thing applies to Rugby. All the teams are likely to look quite different with many different players by 2011. Perhaps we ought to look at who in the current All Blacks has the longevity to be able to make it to 2011? Some current players won't be there ie Brad Thorne etc. |

| here we go..ok..here's the math, aussies won the WC twice, the english, once, the S.African's,twice, had they played in 87',that A.B., one time win, would have been a myth..that's why, half the rugby world discard the 87' world cup, thats why they say the rugby world cup, really started in 91'..say no to drugs!!!!! |
