| I'm not sick of the haka at all it's the best thing Aotearoa can share to the world to help identfy what New Zealand is about, tradition, ,culture, I'd rather watch a haka than watch the 6pm news day in day out with negative news stories. If you guys are sick of the haka then switch it off simple, or even better watch the 6pm news... |

| If teams or individuals choose to do it for whatever reason then I dont see how or why you would "End It". Thats a bit like saying we should end the singing of "Why does love do this too me" by The Exponents becoz that gets sung to death everywhere..lol.. usually by drunk rugby fans who think we can sing. |

| Can we just have and end to the haka please? It's been done to death. The Ab's do it, Irish club sides do it, league and basketball teams do it, it gets done if a kiwi athelete gets fourth place in the Commonwealth Games, at protests, at funerals, at huis, at schools, like enough already! It has been done so often, under so many different circumstances that it has lost its meaning and impact. And if it has to be continued with, how about making it politically correct and truly multicultural and having half of it in English, like the national anthem? |

And again you show your ignorance, Alexander, Genghis Kahn and Te Rauparaha led there own personally picked units from "The Front". Out of that four only Napolean stayed at the back but even he started out as a footsoldier.
Change the subject before I embaress you some more. Your ignorance is your own worst enemy. |

| Warriors are the stupid ones who stand up front facing the enemy, The leaders stayed behind and let the dim witted go forward.People who dance like warriors are the dim witted. As was said until maori wake up to the fact that their culture is their enemy nothing will change. |

Geeze if were going to get off the subject and lump everyone into the same bucket as a psychotic and mentally disturbed weak minority within a people. Then how about we lump every Austrian in with Hitler or Joseph Fritzel, Every Iragi with Saddam and while were at it every anglo saxon descendant in with white Catholic priests that raped and molested little kids. Thats real tough that is molesting a little kid in a church.
As for warriors being not so bright, Ignorant idiots like you make me laugh and its obvious you know $hit all about any history because Alexander, Napolean, Genghis Khan and Te Rauparaha were all from the warrior class that shaped world and national history.
Ignorance like yours is the enemy of all of us, Stick to the subject at hand or shut it. |

| The warrior type ready or battle?, history shows this type of person were not the brightest type, so they were sent up front in battle. And as tbig says one needs to be a warrior to hang a child from a clothes line, Just carry on with your haka dance, and re-watch Once were warriors, Your culture is your enemy. |

The Haka is the traditional Maori challenge to battle. (Although there are other haka performed for other reasons)
Put simply it is used primarily to motivate you, your people/team/tribe/battleg roup etc..For the battle ahead and as a weapon to inflict doubt and psychological damage on your enemy/opposition. (Scaring the $hit out of em in other words)
I say potential opposition can choose how they wish to react to a challenge to battle however they like, And I also think accusations of disrespect from Kiwis of any descent are an overeaction of words, As no-one has the right to force ones culture onto another outside of there own lands.
If you choose to stand up and face a challenge to battle as a warrior representing your own people. And then find a way to use that challenge to power your own motivation and strength,(As in bring it on mate, I've got something for you too!)
Then mutual respect is and should be shown to you because you've just shown that your pumped up up for a battle. Like a warrior should be.
However, If you choose to Ignore or poke pathetic fun at this challenge to battle. Then this should have the effect of increasing there aggression and motivation to pound you into the ground and win. (Within the given rules at the time of course).
I believe the ban the Haka agenda is pushed by Australia and NH unions because they perceive that it gives the All Blacks an advantage. Its a reflection over history of its own success to a point.
I dont hear the same arguement being pulled for countries like Samoa, Tonga, or Fiji who have there own variations of challenges to battle but limited success.
So its being pushed out of jealousy and fear as far as Im concerned.
And too call it a "Dance" is just using plain and simple english terminology because here is "NO" english equivalent to describe it.
Haka is Haka you ignorant phukka... |

imagine telling the poms to change their anthem from "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN " To "GOD SAVE ENGLAND" which is appropriate since the queen does hardly anything at all....
...in saying that - is my proposal a bit disrespectful??
i shall wait with a response... |

| I feel that your comments are so unjustified. I believe that no matter who leads the haka (Pakeha,Maori or Islander)it should be taken in the sense it is performed. It has nothing to do with the colour of your skin. I feel that it is performed with pride and that is how it should be accepted. |

TIGHTY
you have to also accept that there have been calls from Northern Hemisphere to have the HAKA banned. That is offensive to me but I personally feel that anyone who thinks that abunch pof poms truning their backs on the huddle is disrespectfull is actually being arrogant. PPush comes to chove you coudl consider thatas being the counter challeng form the opposition..whistle goes and let's sort it out plain and siomple.
What is sad there ahve been many ypoung payers who have come through to international levle and are excited if not motviated by the occasion of facing the challenge so in that repsect I wonder if the older heads taht have been cryign about nothign over the haka may actaully be taking somethign away form their own.
For our new boys they know it's part of AB culture it is their rite of passge onto the field as a fully fledged AB playing rugby for New Zealand. |

Thank you for your comments which were clear and nonjudgemental.
I only posted the question as looking at reports on New Zealand websites after all black tests, particullarly against NH teams, comments are often made either in the article or as related comments by readers, as to the inappropriateness or offensiveness at the oppositions response. |

| Personally I think it is up to the oppositon how they treat the haka. At the end of the day the HAka is really for the team doing it to invoke a pooling strength and to put a challenge. That's all. Most of the comments you've posted are ones that have been made by non-maori as well as maori. Surely you cannot take cultutral protocol around the world and expect others to bend to your whim. That said ABs and their challenege is Rugby Traditon inseparable and part and parcel of a Rugby Icon. You do not have one without the other but in terms of protocoal I think teh Oppostion repsond as they see fit and not for any of us to tell the opposition how to react because their reaction/response is all about them not the ABs. |

What is the correct response to this little dance?
If they ignore it, people are offended, if they accept the challenge as on a marae, it's wrong, if they advance to meet the challenge, they are disrespectful, if they stand there looking bored, they're not showing the respect the haka deserves (Examples of the above are Campese, O'Driscoll, Keane and France)?
I'm merely asking a question for which there appears to be no answer, as opinions differ greatly as to what is apropriate. |

Any Haka performed properly is an awesome thing to see,so drop the All Black/Kiwi Haka-No Fu*#@n way.(so long as the white
boys dont look like robots.)
Piri or Hosea should lead the Haka, cause they would do it properly. |
