| Josh played in a different era with different break down laws so in his own time yes he was. But this is now and Richie will be the best ever in his time. And not only NZ but the entire rugby world. |

| kiwi_blk - well said! When 2 players can raise the level of the whole team they can only be described as world class. How many international teams can only dream of being represented by such game winners? |

Ajabel - There are a lot of us here in NZ that were hurting after the world cup. Some of us have taken a while to start looking at things in perspective. It is well documented here that I have been heavily critical of the All Blacks and their current selection, and my feelings on the coach are documented as well. Dan Carter & Richie are going a long way to restoring the faith of a lot us, and, I have to say that the influence that they have on this team is huge - and just their presence helps drag other players to a higher level.
This team has performed a hell of a lot better than i expected, and they have earned the support of the NZ Public. They may or may not win the tri - nations or the next world cup, but they are still the All Blacks, they represent our country, and for that alone deserve our support |

Aren't you a bitter little man ajabel
There are numerus examples of great sportsmen that have been in teams that haven't won the world cup/ world championships. Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara in cricket, Stacey Jones in league, great soccer players - to numerus to count. The list goes on and on.
Carter was injured iin the QF and so should probably not have set foot on the field.
Those things aside, I would say that these two players are the two best in their positions in the world bar none. We are extremely fortunate that our two best players are in such influential positions so that they can turn games in our favour. |

This is just my opinion;
When McCaw and Carter perform in a world cup final to the level they got to against the English (weakend side). Then maybe I'll be convinced of ther stardom.
At the moment I would rather watch the U20's rugby team. They won a World cup! |

endorsements and marketing you can't get away from the fact that these guys are singled out because they have "x" factor. Win or lose they are part of a team structure. Dan can kick for space but lunless the chasers are chaisng then it's not going to happen is it? If Richie secures oppositioon ball only to have it fumbled etc then this isn;t gpoing to translate into anythign postive is it They've done the yards Dan has real $ value and that doesn't happen if you're not a star. Get with the programme everyone else knows the reality and you're initiating a thread that could only be done by a soccer hooligan haha |

| Yeah, Richie and Dan are going to be greats, they're currently the best players in the world in their positions. If we don't lift them up as star players in our national sport then who do you suggest out of our current crop of All Blacks? |

| Give yourself an uppercut ajabel1. It is clear you know nothing about rugby and have probably never played a team sport in your life. Everyone knows that Carter and McCaw are the worlds best players, regardless of the teams result. Please don't post any more threads, others may not be so polite. |

| Ajabel, when you say WE shouldnt build them up as super stars do you mean New Zealand fans, the media oposing coaches? McCaw and Carter are both world class, you only need to look at the stats to see that. But If I were coach I would have started Evans at last years world cup semi, he was in sublime form. To call Dan and Richie a joke you are obviously a phuk stick! |

Im not saying that they are solely to blame for the loss in France. Im saying that we shouldn't build them up as super stars at the end of the day it's just a game.
In the professional era, other national sides don't seem to care about the results during the years between the world cup like NZ'rs do. Let's compare the world cup concept to soccer. How many national sides in the soccer world field their best possible team in tournaments between the world cup? |
