| Boys, calm yourselves down. I can't see the point to this question anyway. This isn't South Africa where you get to be selected due to the colour of your skin. This is New Zealand - you get selected because of your rugby talent, hard work and work ethic regardless of your surname, ethnicity or tribe. I am 1/8th Maori and the maori branch of my family are from the Ngati Kahanunu - however last time I played, no-one gave a $hit on the rugby field or in the pub after the game. |

its hard these days to know which country you are ''morally obligated'' to represent i guess....
yes a lot of these boys were born and bred in nz - therefore should and usually do represent the silver fern...
but take the likes of our league players...
most were born here but have been moulded into superstars - not here in nz but by training and playing in oz... but they then come back to represent nz eg..benji marshall, stephen hearney, halatau, wiki etc...
same goes for Nick Willis who won bronze in the 1500m at the olympics......
born and bred here - but got trained by the pro's in america and thats where his status grew as well as beoming a star on the track.... but we all know he didnt represent the usa, he repped nz. |
