They have been in the final three times... in 1991 is was because the draw was shocking and even though they were soundly beaten by the ABs in the openning game they recieved the easier path to the final, and though everyone conceded that the Aussies and the ABs were heads and shoulders above all other teams that year the draw saw them play the semi...
In 2007 the french played their game of the tournament against the ABs and then did their typical French thing and rolled over to the next team they played, which just happened to be England...
The Poms deserved to be in the Final in 2003, and deserved to win on form... but the other two times they made the finals, they had a bit of luck and some good fortune with draws... |

| vvonzie, England won't be a threat and have often got to the finals by good fotune... again the draw... They were deserved winners in 2003, where they were favourite going in, but they have never really appeared a threat in other tournaments... |

Lcuk of the draw has never helped NZ... The biggest giant killers in Rugby Worl Cup history are the French... The SA team have played them only once in WC history, at the was at home... the fact that they haven't beaten the French away from home for 10+ years is interesting... one could say that SA have been lucky with their draw...
Even the 1991 draw was a shocker... loser of the opening game (England) had the easier run to the final to the winner of that game (All Blacks)...
End of the day you need to beat who is in front of you, so no excuses, but just a comment that the draw never helped... |
