| the haka is what brings the team together even stronger,if he doesnt want to do the haka,he can stand alone by himself and see how his teamamtes and the public look at him alone on the side of the field watching standing by himself like a man with no mates |

| The player would only ever get the chance to do that once. Which begs the question; why would a player do it knowing the consequences ? A; he wouldn't. |

<You ought to hear the jokes in the london pubs about monkeys dancing the haka,>
Who give a fark!! They obviously dont have a farkin clue wat it means or the traditions behind Te Rauparaha Haka.
If it is done correctly and for the right reasons and the sports people doing know what they are doing it for then go for it. |

<Not to mention the fact that over half the participants are usually whiteys. Are we taking the whole thing a bit to far, jumping on the maori bandwagon so to speak?>
Any New Zealand athlete who has the confidence and knowledge to do a Haka as it is meant to be presented, and feels that the occasion is appropriate, should be applauded, not critisized, and it doesn't matter a rats axle if he is Maori or a "whitey".
By the same token, I don't think anyone should feel "obliged" to perform it either. |

| what is it with nz sportspeople nowadays, they seem obsessed with doing the haka at any given chance. there was a time when the ABs only did the haka on away matches. Now we have swimmers doing it poolside, athletes doing it as a welcome home to medal winners at the olympics and so on and so on. Not to mention the fact that over half the participants are usually whiteys. Are we taking the whole thing a bit to far, jumping on the maori bandwagon so to speak? |
