Tanco
"broken coach" he brought a weary and mentally lagging team back from the brink to give this country four years of enjoyable outcomes for New Zeland and you are ready to throw it all away because of one game. Regardless of what that game was it was one game and probaly this is the answer. The team needs to be playing with a one game approach and pushed to the extent that everything is left on the field. It was the one thing about the old springboks I used to admire. Regardles of how much they were traling they were all out chasing down oppostion till the last whistle. I suppose in that respect it's fitting we see them in the final this weekend. Call me crazy but I think th erotation will have a huge part to mplay in terms of forming bonds betwen squad members that will see them not only playing for what they ho;ld dear perosnally but also for each other. Call it pc (and I'm not) but there is something about shared experience an dgivan what these young men went through I am ceratin that if faced with the situation again there is no way they will let it happen and in a tournament it will be realised once they play their best and those player expend themselves totally come game time.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
I'm hangig out for the wekeend. Given the TAB has been beaten by the outcomes at this tournament I think an English win would just be icing on the cake. It would make the Rugby World Cup appealing in so far as form books are left at the gate upon entering and really just emphasizing what a majority of us have discussed to this point. The NZRU really need to take care of their first string players and keep them honest but foget about trying to sign up every promising youngster which sometime s seems a little cynical given these players could rpresent heritage nations and make the tournament that much more competitive most of all saving money and putting that into first string players who know they would have to play their way out of it and replacing the value on the jumper (if you are porganising sponsorship it should be an utmost condition that only the silver ferm sits on the playing kit. As a branding exercise whoever brokered or sold the Abs did a rubbish job.

Seriously who gives a damn about the rest of the world. When it comes to our stuff all we care about is what we think and what we want for our team. Wake up to yourself. None of this has anything to do with what we want the world to think about us it's about raming home what they already know.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
The Rugby World Cup. Maybe we shouldn't send a team. Maybe we should just concentrate on whether our domestic rugby is suffering because of the world cup fever. i beleive that the AB's are the best rugby team in the world. I don't think that any country would disagree with that.
After all the English lost against the South Africans in their first match of the world cup didn't they? kinda makes the final a bit of a Farce.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
That is a great point. The team on the field were lacking for ideas and despite the groans from the fairweather fans it was really up to the Captain and leaders on the field (in the cauldron) to literally think fast and on their feet. It did not occur to Richie to give themselves some breathing space which I am certain would have made breaking France easier knowing they were leading. It was a collection of little things that made for a huge outcome that did not work in our favour. And it annoys me that we are being ridiculed for talking about it. I guess that might be a probelm in this country not enough talkng and too much impassioned laden reaction. If the IRB are serious about finding a World Chapion team then some form of schedule needs to be drawn up that will do this because I'm sorry The RWC is not it. It's a showpiece. A rugby palooza of the top qualified nations in a knockout tourney.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
I agree. We don't want to have to pick a new coach that has to start all over again, we want Graham Henry to take what he and his coaching team have learnt and fine tune. We have to learn from our mistakes. I think that Henry had the right idea but I think that it was the last two inches that lost us the game. Those players that played against France should have been able to win the game for us. Every player and every combination had had enough gametime together. I do think however that the Black Jersey means a lot more to the players then we realize psychologically. Changing coaches every time we lose has not done the trick. At the end of the day Henry's plan to be able to slot any player into the team without weakening the team or combination should have worked. All this area was covered.I think if anything, We lacked the real passion and the hunger in order to win, that wasn't entirely there. The conditioning I think worked. We were as fit as any other team. We had all the positions covered. But at the end of the day, we lost. I do think though that the AB's were bigger then the two ref mistakes which some would say lost us the game. We should have won.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
I think perhaps, given the result of the quarter final and the fact that over two thirds of rugby following NZ'ers wanting Henry to stay, the NZRU may just feel a wee bit pressured into keeping him, I mean what happens if they ditch him, and the team starts to fault again, much like they did prior to his appointment of coach, and then players start leaving, AB's lose supporters, no supporters = no one buying tickets or merchandise... = end of the NZRU legacy... They be fricking stupid and screwed in the head if they went against the majority at this dangerous and crucial point in time I think...

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
You're not alone but there is stil the bigger picture. People are not going to buy in Henry and one thign they do not realise is that he wasn't always someone who worked a sparto fo a tema of coaches so this requires some concession surely. Anyway not to apportion blame you can't satifay everyone but broken record time: Do somethign diffrent this time NZRU. do not ditch the coaching staff do not dismantle something atht has been nurtured four years running. Four year of siuccess with no world cup for one tenure does not equate to out right failiure in my books if anything it is a resounding succes with a samll disappointment...better is to come.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
LMAO @ Scott Hamilton!!!!!!!!!!

Leave Henry where he is, give credit where credit is due, he has provided me with a shyteload of proud moments and endless hours of bragging rights over my non NZ ethnic friends over the past few years. Yes he made mistakes, but so has each and every individual player.. let them grow from it. If we want to can anyone, can the media, that includes the INTERNATIONAL media. You see I think its all a conspiracy, they plan in there cunning lil minds *muahh hahahaha, lets shine the spot light on NZ and label THEM favourites so it takes all the pressure of us!!!*

Quite clever really when you think bout it, wish we'd thought about it... but noooooooooo, our own media, our own PEOPLE jump on the stupid head bandwagon with them and put even MORE pressure on our guys..... Come on team!! Think about it!!
