I agree - look at the last 2 world cups - firing the coach and rebuilding has not worked. Henry has a great record in his time as AB coach. Stick with him, let him learn and have 8 years ofexperience going into 2011 at home.

I agree. Henry must stay... win or lose. Just because the team lose doesn't mean he's a bad coach. He had given his best and deserves a second chance.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
You are wanting to give a coach that has a proven track record of poor results as a head coach a second chance? He failed with the Welsh and the British Lions and now has failed miserably with a team that not only New Zealand But the rest of the world would agree is one of the best rugby playing nations in the world. Graham Henry's problem is that he has never really had to develope a team, he has always inherited a good rugby team. Bring back John Mitchell and Robbie Deans combination if you are talking of giving coaches a second chance, thier results speak for themselves only Fred Allen has a better record as an All Black Coach.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
one major mIstake new zealand has always done at the end of each unsuccessful world cup campaign is that they have got rid of the failed coaches , overseas other teams do not change coaches as oftern as New Zealand does, my personal view is we should stick with the the tried and true and hold onto Hanson,Henry and Smith, if they were willing to take us through to the next world cup 2011

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
I've always thought it would be silly to get rid of Henry if he din't come home with the cup as 42 wins from 48 tests is a none too shabby record if you ask me. However he has since stated that he believes he did everthing right and wouldn't change anything if he had the chance. This is a not what I wanted to hear and makes me think that if he were given another shot we would be in the same position in 2011 as we are now. My vote would now go to Robbie Deans as his record with the canterbury team and the crusaders is second to none. Why? because he actually gets the best out of his players and believes that player combinations need as much time together in pressure situations as possible. Isn't that what we need. Yes the ref had a shocker but we still should have been capable of putting enough points on the board to take the refs decisions out of the game. I don't know about you but the ABs looked scared to use all that talent in thier backline.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
You say the best 30 were over there but yet we had a lock who played two games this year before the tournament and a centre who was also injured for most of the year even when they left and a halfback who was playing the best rugby of all our halfbacks was ranked number two sitting on the bench and another who was ranked number two earlier in the year was left behind because of disciplinary reasons I may be crazy but it doesnt sound like our top squad was there at all. There were a few selections made on reputations alone and nothing else. Dont get me wrong Conrad Smith and Keith Robinson are two of our best players when absolutely fit and hitting form but when you havnt had enough top class rugby then you are obviously not up to international standards and to take both away with injuries is a big kick in the guts to those players who have been used and abused by this coaching staff and have been showing the type of form that deserves an allblack jersey. Ali Williams having had earlier discipline issues with his super 14 squad was still chosen for this squad and I believe he had been the form player of the All Blacks if not the tournament because he was given a fair chance yet Piri Weepu falls out of line once to my knowledge and he suddenly hasn't been playing well enough and is not pulling his weight so is dropped for another person ( no disrespect to Andy Ellis ) who has actually been allowed to play rugby to improve his form. Fair or not you make the decision, but can you honestly tell our fittest and best squad was there, very questionable.

Our Boys had to play the referee as well as France, and with a referee who should give up the job as he is hopeless, we didn't stand a chance.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
None of those players mentioned are any good. I'm from Waikato but admit that Marty Hollah is way past his best. Pull you head out. The best 30 were in Europe and couldn't get the business done. No one else in NZ was going to. The ref screwed them, but in the end they still choked.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
henry is a good coach. however, the roatation policy sucked. so did the conditioning programme, as they effectively chose 22 of the 30 players for the world cup almost a year out. they should have played the super 14, and been picked purely on form.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
Sorry wrong page for the last comment, but heres to our boys who played in the cup, you were the pick of the bunch and the rated team so you were targeted by all teams who knew they were going to face you. Maybe if along with the Webb Ellis trophy for one tounament they could inherit the conception of a trophy going to the best team overall during a season ( as in the world sevens series ) then you know all the eggs wouldn't go into just one tournament or into club rugby and the international scene would be strong year in and out. Then you know we would have won something this year.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
Henrys policy of not playng (resting his best players) was always contrversial, given that the players missed out on much needed game time. I believe that the conditioning programme was a disaster with many of the stars failing to shine as they have done so in the past, in probably the most important test of their rugby careers. 4 years of building us up to play like that. He has to go.

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
Henry made some very bad decisions starting earlier on in the year and it has been a slow gradual decline to the world cup. He made lots and lots of really bad calls with the team at the world cup and he needs to be acountable. Rotation, conditioning has to go! He also kept injured players at the cup when all other teams sent them home and got replacements, Stupid!

Yes he made some shocking choices! leave the other two in charge to keep the consistancy going forward.

But dont 4get the guys who did go out there gave their all with the game plan given!
The Refs not only for our game but the whole world cup need to be revised!!!!

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
If anyone bothered to listen to the arrogant Anton Oliver on last nights news then you would have heard the truth about the game plan that the coaching staff had asked of the team. It was not the coaches wishes to play aerial ping-pong, nor was it to give the ball to the opposition in our own half, yet this is what eventuated during the entire first half once the ball went past Luke McAllister. Why in the world was our number one fullback playing at centre and our best winger sitting on the seats not even in the playing 22. Dan Carter should have started from the bench with the form he has shown through the tournament leading up to the game putting the speedy Nick Evans in instead. But I'm not the coach of this team and never will be for that matter, yet I believe that Graham Henry needs to stay because if we see Robbie Deans there, we will have a repeat of the John Mitchell era where 75% of the team is from Canterbury and the rest are all from players who he knows will listen not by form. Sure we have made the earliest exit from the world cup in our history as a nation but there would be more damage done if this coaching group was lost to other unions!!! Let him stay but make sure he is not picking out of favouritism but from excellent form that is deserving of a chance to wear our beloved black jersey. Many players could be bereaved by their ommissions from the squad, here are a few names that come to mind, Piri Weepu, Rico Gear, Mose Tui'ali, Marty Holah, Troy Flavell, Anthony Tuitavake, Ma'a Nonu just to name an illustious few. Well if I were the coach I would of had at least four of those guys in the squad on form not reputation and they would have been great assets to our team. Going back to the subject of whether Henry should stay as coach we will soon see if he gives us the option but I say if he is still passionate about the spot then leave things as is and see how we move forwrd from here, and heres hoping that we can get back on track for the next one!!!! ...

Re:Henry must stay Reply to this message
why the hell would you want to get rid of a good coach... they lost one game so you have to get rid of the coach and find a new one thats pretty dumb. first of all the boys have played great games and he has been behind those games. secondly getting another coach means getting to know the players all over again and getting to know there strengths and trialing new things that could either be great or disaterous and what happens then they make it to the 2011 world cup and fail (figuratively speaking) then what you blame that coach and decide to get a new one so basically it would go in a cycle
come on you need to think outside the square
