| Well well well isn't this a revelation and timely at that given half of this thread has touched upon this very thing. Strange then that this has come out when Robbie was counting on the yahoos spitting the dummy over the world cup installinghim as the new boss. Well done NEw Zeladn great call and if Henry needed any reminding then this is it coming form the guy who wanted his job. Deal with each game as it comes and forget placing as much focus on the cup. Don;t be suckered into doing what the so called commentators are looking for you to do. SChweet! |

Robbie Deans has handed out some advice to New Zealand rugby as he prepares to take charge of a Wallabies team determined to reclaim some meaningful silverware - end your World Cup pre-occupation!
Deans - who was assistant coach of the 2003 All Black World Cup squad - said the obsession with the tournament in some quarters in New Zealand rugby had contributed to the All Blacks' ongoing downfall on the big stage.
The All Blacks have not won the World Cup since 1987.
They bombed out of this year's tournament at the quarterfinal stage - their worst-ever finish.
Deans said the focus on the four-yearly tournament was detrimental thing.
"There is no doubt that has been the case," Deans told the Sydney Morning Herald.
"Some outfits have based their approach on the World Cup, for example, and been prepared to sacrifice in between. I don't think, personally, that caters for the long term.
"We have just seen a great example with the All Blacks, where their emphasis actually became a distraction. It became an obsession and larger in their own minds than it should have been.
"It became counter-productive."
Deans will take charge of the Wallabies after ending his Super 14 commitments with the Crusaders in June.
He said one of his goals was to treat every test in the four years leading up to the World Cup as important as each other.
"(Winning) every week would be great, absolutely," he said.
"If you keep building, you will be in the best state possible come that challenge (of the World Cup). You can't deal with that challenge until it is in front of you. You have to live the moment along the way."
Deans also revealed a large focus during his unsuccessful job interview in front of the NZRU board for the All Blacks coaching job was on the failed 2003 World Cup campaign.
But Deans said he didn't combat that by reminding the board that Graham Henry had only been able to coach the All Blacks to the 2007 World Cup quarterfinals.
"No, I wante ... |

The best thing about the ABs winning the 2011 RWC is finally the fuss will be over and we won't have to listen to all the comparisons to 87 blah blah, different era different games. And all the supporters of which ever coach can all say HAHAHA told you so!!!
PEACE |

I had no issues with Mitchell but they had their problems as well. Things are drawing to a close it's really up to the powers that be. Whoever gets the job will no doubt want what we all do and that's for the ABs to keep getting stronger develop some depth and then finally cap everything off with a resounding win in 2011 to secure the world cup.
Thanks to one and all for sharing. |

| SACK HIM he created a monster for the all black name, the black jersey and the game, for goodness sake get rid of him. I'm no fan of deans but who else is there I'm still in favour of john mitchell and he did a lot better than henry. |

Rugger you tell me and we'll both know. I do not want to venture down that Southern slant but other than loyalty to the colours that have kept him in a job for many years (can't begrudge that). Perhaps he's pissed at being pulled or he too wants get behind what he thinks will help the game and really that is just saying that the current set-up didn't rock his world.
Saville has last night stated that there was huge support for Henry in the current squad. This is the closest we have seen to anything being publicised and this on the back of a journalist placing his own report now when it comes to Deans it's all out there like a big circus. It seems like "this week in New Idea" to me? Sorry to oversimplify it's just how I'm taking this in. I am still shocked at the faces in the game that have really been ungracious with their remarks. That sh!t's better left on the boards heh heh |

| sorry Rugger I dropped that last reply in just as you were posting up. The short answer is at no point in that post did I say he wasn't allowed to voice his opinion. If you can show me on that post where I categorically stated that Maiger wasn't allowed to say sh!t then dio so and I will reply in kind buddy otherwise the statement stands. |

| Nucifora has stated that Deans is very successful and there is free to pusrsue anything at this point in his career and would make a success of it. Sounds to me like Nucifora really really really wants the Wallabies job |

putionz (29/11):
In the context of the discussion Tana is far more relevant than Buck/Grizz having played under Mitchell and Deans and as aprofessioanl player of recent times is better qualified to speak on thes matters.
putionz (6/12):
well wouldn't you know mauger has decided to out himself as well. he goes on about this that and the other with nothing solid to back up why he's pushing for Deans (when really we know why). He's wanting freshness here on the back of phucking off altogether.
Hmmmmm...
So Mauger (having played under Mitchell and Deans and as a professioanl player of recent times) isn't allowed to voice his opinion? |

| Yes I believe in Graham Henry, I wish him luck in maintaining the coaching position. Unfortunately it did not work the last world cup but come the next one we will win as he would have had the experience what it feels like to loose and would want to avoid that by all means. I'd hate him to retire on a loosing note, it's just not Graham Henry, so please make the right choice, choose the man. |

"I'm not here to muck around. I'd been playing in New Zealand since 1999 and everything seemed pretty stale," he said.
The only thing stale is maugers gameplay. His mindless kicking of the ball and the occasional hail mary that always resulted in a try to the opposition.
Seeya Aarron come back when you can't stay longer. Contrary to what anyone says Cantabrians in key possies and they coudln't finish the job now the rest of the South Island are looking to hang Henry out to dry. Mauger you would not have made a lick of difference to that game because everyone is onto your stale style.
Looking forward to you carrying on like the rest of these old women. He said jude me on this blah blah blah....wow what next? |

"What Graham Henry is trying to do is justify what he has done," Mains told Yahoo!Xtra.
"He is the one all along that said, 'Judge me on the World Cup'. He will be trying to justify what he did as being right. -Laurie Mains
I think I should explain what I've been trying to argue regarding this point which constantly rears its head. Henry was asked to be judged on his results. To me that is waht I would expect from anyone in charge of a top internationl team and secondly with all of the talent at their disposal why would you not feel confident and enthused about that part of a challenge (RWC). Now the trick is this. Do we play it dumb and dump the coach for daring to show his belief in this team or do we play it smart by considering what he's brought to the culture and the team during his tenure. At the end of the day Henry has been judged, this thread is testament to that but everyone else in particular these high profile types stand also to be judged owing to their very public commentary on Henry when a decision is made. What people see as arrogance I see as commitment, conviction and ownership. |

would this pass? i dont think so!!! we want to win all the time....which henry and co tried to but JUST managed to win 42 out of 48!!!!!!!!! i mean JUST!! haha
but some people have forgotten that!! 42 out of 48 tests we managed to drink our beers happily.... 42 times we had a feed happily....42 times we slept happily
'hmmmmmmmmmmmmm rather that than any other coaches record |

one of the EXCLUSIVE 50 all blacks that reckon henry should was an all black named STEVE POKERE!!
this cunt was in prison for bloody fraud for fugg sakes....and now he says henry should go?? fugg sakes this dude doesnt deserve to say shyt!!! as for the others well they all based their opinions on that one game vs france...so unfair
do they want us to lose consistently for the next four years and then win the world cup like every other champ? the only real world champs were the 87 winners - the all blacks - who were undefeated for the 87, 88, 89 seasons!!
check the records of the other world cup winners they turned crap the minute they won the damn thing |
