| Well I think it is a bit late for rugby in SA with the majority of black people...africa is enamoured with soccer...I will never forget when the Black Stars (Ghana) were playing... masses of people looking at tv's in shop windows n absolute bedlum when goals were scored.... hehehe..... am sure the springboks will be very much enriched with black players in the future however.... |

| Unfortunately it is abysmal. The only blacks that play rugby or who will ever come close to it are those who go to former white privae schools, much like Makhaya Ntini (cricketer) who went to the same college as hansie cronje. Now the SARU needs to get of its butt and take rugby to the people of SA. Lets hope and pray. |

In fact if you read what was written I like anyone else worth their salt on this board are of the postion that merit is a given. All i was saying is that South Africa with their millions of citizens are probably spoilt for talent so is it such a bad thing to give ALL South Africans an opportuntiy to have a fair crack at representing their country? Merit aside how do you see the game developing in your country? From what you've put, the state of Black South African rugby is abyssmal if there is such a thing as Black South African rugby. |

| Putionz, nowhere in my post do i mention i am against blacks in the team. You might be surpirsed to hear, i am BLACK too. What i was saying is the politicians want the team to be majority black REGARDLESS of merit. What i am saying pick the team on merit........(of cos there needs to be development in the black schools etc) Our whole country has gotten behind the Boks, and even the Black people who are traditonally soccer supporters, and dont know much abt rugby, have abandoned the soccer team to support the Boks, they want to support a winning team. My point is if a black guy can outplay Percy Mongomery or Butch James, Vic Matfield etc, then select him. But if the white boy plays better u have take him. Merit first. |

| Interesting. Who won the world cup? SA. Who won the super 14? SA first and second. Now would you kindly explain the irrelevance of the super competition in all of this? Possibly the biggest blunder was cottonballing the ABs but that does not change the fact that South Africa in response caused some furore in the tri nations with those particular selections. The upshot of which it has worked out for them. On some level The South Africans know they were never truly tested reflected in Whites recent comments. People were loathe for England to win but what has happened is South Africa won playing the game everyone expects from England. You put a valid point but does that mean NZ foresake what they have endeavoured for in terms of the game going forward or do we just accept that negative Rugby is what typifies the game to the world and risk no-one wanting to devlop it in their country owing to it becoming almost as exciting to watch as wayne_H and murray do Karaoke. A fox-type first five will never happen again (Thank God) because try as you might you do not want someone in there who is going to kick kick kick the excitment out of the game and essentially turning it into a ten man affair. Foxy's a legend but he really did not have that instinct for the tryline only the goal post: No thanks. FYI South Africa defeated NZ in the final in '95 every other Tournament these teams have not crossed swords so how is that really being instrumental in terms of outcomes for the Abs at RWC? You say that Islanders cannot play tests how is that statement not racist when your premise is based on a particular ethnicity?. I think you better hop back into bed with mexted and sing a song on his microphone boy because your sh!t is whack! |

When will NZ learn that picking players from a competition that is basically festival rugby is not the answer to winning the world cup.
When do you see super 14 like scores in "REAL" test rugby i.e. in games against the real test rugby nations.
All our islander backs that star in Super 14 are not test players.
And dont say it is racist ...it is a fact.
There are different forms of rugby....7s,NPC,Super or festival rugby for the idiot public and TV,internationals against the minnows and then there is the real game...Test Rugby against the big boys when there is something at stake.
We fail at the later through having the wrong personnel.
No 65-35,72-41,43-39 scores in the real test matches.These island boys are stars in the Super 14 festival game but not in the games that matter.Accept it guys.
Even the world cup we won wasnt a true one.....no South Africa.
We will not win again until everyone accepts that the super 14 is not the place to be picking test players and adapts to picking the right players.
We need a Fox type 1st five not a Naciwa,Carlos etc and move Dan to 2nd.They run the game after all. |

| In our country the inevitable too many islanders no real NZer's argument always rears it's ugly head when we don't get a result. This is syptomatic of differing values of course but to a larger extent selection on merit albiet not always unanimously. Now is it likely you can accept his argument looking at what has happened here in New Zealand? |

| If they do not pick players based solely on merit, it will be a shame, nay, it would be absolutely stupid, the rest of the world will laugh if a World Cup winning team can be broken down on the basis of race, and if the team performs badly, the implementors will be held accountable, cutting off your nose to spite your face is just crazy......but this is something for them to work out. |

| I think what South African rugby needs is to look at their player stocks and see what potential there is for a game already well established in that country and look past the closet bigots. In your South Africa Habana or Chester would not be dotting down. I think that in a country of millions it is hugely presumptuous that in those numbers there isn't another Habana or God Forbid African Lomu. As the initiator of this post I question your alarmist 13 black 2 white players and while the rest of us believe in merit SARFU need to really give the black playership a fair crack (not the whip) at success. I do not judge Skinstadt just his comments. I do question you posting up a: I'm not political but... post but it seems to presume that anything less (racially) than what you have now is the end of the world. Is rugby the last Bastion of old South Africa or an avenue for inclusion where your country can see past colour and fight for a merit based selection that includes ALL South Africans. It'l be real sad to see racism in the SA team. Id rather the ABs lose to a better SA team than the ABs win to a team not playing at their best because of racism |

| The image of South Africans by some New Zealanders in this blog is ignorant and shameful to say the least. We have world class educational institutions. Anyways lets talk rugby...... reading some posts here all i can say, whoever takes Bob Skinstad seriously is stupid, cos Bob is nothing but a piece of has been candyfloss. I say this even tho he is playing for Sharks. Of cos winning WRC does not make u the best team.....look at England they were dismal after 2003. I do believe the Boks can continue their winnign ways, but ONLY if politics doesnt come into play and Jake stays. The prob is this morning's headlines is that the poltiicians are already demanding 13 blacks and 2 whites in the team, regardless of merit! so yeah, maybe NZ will lift the cup in 2011. SA wont make it past the group stages, thanks to politics. |

Yes I would hope so. I have had a bad run, but is it just the Engineering field, not sure. havent had much to do with others. just get on and protect my family and friends, and workers. Actually this chatting has been fun today, yes I have stured it up, I think some needed it. And me, yes I love it back, bring it on, lol.
Its not often I get a chance to spred my mind away from my work, its been a good test, I think I have a slight bit of sanity left. I'm happy with that, lol. |

Talking about degrees. I hold two, with 4 trade certs, all UK or NZ. were your SA, or did you get them printed in Singapore like the ones one of your country men gave me.
Thing is it took me 2 months to catch himout and 2 years to get rid of him. This is a small country, we all know each other, well the ones that call the shots that is, He is not to happy in Australia, word even gets there.
No I'm not worried what you earn, I don't even know how much I earn, Just saw my tax bill, I think I am going to Aust as well lol. Only joking. You are a nice person, one day we should meet, you will see I am a good man, |

No but I wish.
20 years in the armed services, I got paid by the government then.
Since then I have made it up and Owned my own bussiness for 25 years. I paid so muck tax I think I am just here to work for those who don't want to work. I bet my tax bill last year was far more than you earned. And the revenue collectors made it worse by taking $170 for a speeding ticket, just had to push the new car that little bit. lol |
