| Hi there, I had the opportunity to visit Viet Nam in 1969 for 365 days. I walked most places but also went on a few 'tours'. I would advise traveling by Helicopter - great way to see the sights and shoot the natives. The food was not great, American C rations can get pretty boring after a while. Visited Vung Tau three times, the 'Hepatitis' filled rolls there guarantee a weight loss. |

| Hi there, I had the oppotunity to visit Vietnam in 2007 for 4 days and loved every part of it. Nic the only advise i can say is trust the shooter drivers lol and shop shop shop. I also went on a few tours there. Going to the places where our ancestors died back in the war days and also travelling up the river(Mi kon delta). What an awesome experience. OH they love KIWI's too so let them know who and where you are from. Have a great time. |

nic, havn,t been there on a bike but i intend to one day, should be ok with a group tour, i have heard it,s fantastic on a bike, i was going there a few years back to do a bike trip from Hanoi to Ho Chi, but other things happened so i,m on delay.
i spoke to a local kiwi ex vietnamiese national and he said it,s generally safe but in the central regions by the coastal highway it can be a bit risky but if your with a group you should be safe, otherwise from what i,ve heard it,s a great trip.
The biggest tip i can give you is make sure you hydrate yourself heaps, make sure you keep your fluid intake well ahead of thirst, the tropics is unforgiving if you get dehydrated, if your an old hand at bike touring, then you.ll already know this,,,,, have a good trip |
