I recommend Largs Bay Hotel. It's a beautiful building that has real charm. It's right on the beachfront and has great walk ways along the coast. It's a nice quiet place too, but if you want action, the trains in and out of the city are brilliant too. The hotel has had a few million $ spent on it in recent years and the service was great. You can walk up the beach to Semaphore - quirky and interesting beach town. I love the way they have preserved their old buildings over there too.
