we need somebody coming here or we will die out...
in order to maintain a population (assuming no migrations), every female must give birth to two young, and here in NZ we are not reaching that,
I suspect most developed nations aren't causes being we are too busy working these days...

take into account the amount of kiwis going off overseas and well you get the picture,

we need new people entering our country one way or another to continue this all important "economic growth" we have came to depend on...

and in all reality, retired Americans may not contribute to GDP as such but they wont be taking our jobs either and if they are living here the money they bring with them will make it into our communities one way or another...

as long as we dont have to start speaking American I'm cool with it.

Goodnight.

Doesn't matter what nationality people are if they want to retire in NZ. As long as they are law abiding and can support themselves.

Congratulations on your decision to retire in New Zealand.
It is indeed a beautiful country to relax and enjoy.
I left a few months ago and am now living in SC with my American husband.
I am happy to explore this culture and adapt to my new land with an open mind and looking forward to contributing to the U.S tax system soon. We are starting afresh though and its tough not having a car , boy this city is gonna walk me to death ,hahaha...
Someone wrote above me that its rich fat Americans that have driven house prices up , that is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard ,for if it were true wouldnt that mean house prices would be even higher in the USA?
Trust me fellow kiwis they are not!! Interest at around 4.25 per cent for a $30,000 home...why we have even looked at a $10,000 2bed 2bth mobile home....( just google it for yourself (www.mobilehomes.com)
Now I lived in NZ most of my life ,have been a homeowner there too and I know exactly why the market is overpriced ,sheer greed cept they bottomed out because of it.

Good luck to you as you walk the Immigration halls too , I may bump into you along the way.
