| It seems to take forever. However your journey will be improved if you avoid LA (San Francisco is fine, but no connection to UK) which is one of the worst airports I have ever had the misfortune of going through, particularly if you have a connection. Also avoid United Airlines - they seem to hire hosties that have permanent PMT. Also I believe the jetstream has some effect on times as they are different each way. |

Ages and Ages
It seems forever I think we boarded the plane at 10-30am from Sydney stopped at LA for one hour we then flew on to New York and got there about 7-30pm in the evening.
You actually wonder why you are so tired...its along way I think it took something like 12 to 14 hours |

Hi again all
I've just done some research about the earth's rotation affecting flight times. The bottom line is NO of course it doesn't have any effect.
It just goes to show that some people are complete idiots.
It's the old adage, don't believe everything you read. |

The flights from SF to Wellington are not direct. Flying from SF to Wellington typically means you can check luggage directly so once checked you do not have to deal with it until you physically arrive in Wellington, but the actual flights are, SF to LAX, LAX to Auckland, and then a domestic flight is taken from Auckland to Wellington.
If you are flying to SF, you can fly out of Wellington, but you do stop in Auckland and from there directly to SF.
Actual flying time from Auckland to SF is 11 to 12 hrs depending on winds and weather and of course the earth is also turning toward you. Flying time from SF to Auckland is typically 12 to 13hrs because the earth is moving in the same direction as you are, so depending on weather etc.
You will also lose a day comming home, but gain a day getting there. I have made the trip several times, the most recent being last Sunday. |

| Depends which way , and with who.....All I know is its a pharking long flight....good luck.A stopover in a nice hotel room ,with a shower and a bed , for a night or two is a great idea. Unless of course you fly business or 1st class....... |

| Air New Zealand did start a Direct route between Auckland and San Francisco, as far as I know they're still flying that route. Nothing from Wellington though. I think Australia is the only International Destination directly asscessable form Wellington. |
