Been awhile since I been to Europe but I prefer Berlin over london for many of the reasons listed. I would also seriously consider the others listed such as Prague.
Lived in Europe for 9 years. |

Been to both. I don't particularly like london, but I used to live there. Berlin was OK, but I would suggest either Krakow or Warsaw. Should have no trouble finding poeple who speak english in the larger cities in Poland, but you will probably struggle in the smaller cities/towns. Great beers and vodkas, the people are great and it's a lot cheaper than London and Berlin.
Prague and the Czech Republic are both well worth a visit. Similar attractions as Poland, but the Czech vodka isn't as good. Bratislava in Slovakia is less touristy than Prague, and is worth 3 or 4 days if possible. You can also get a bus to Vienna in Austria for not very much money. I'd say Vienna could be worth a couple of days also.
But of your 2 original options, Berlin. Better transport systems and most people speak english, generally cheaper than London and easier to get around Germany than the UK.
there's my 2c. |

London or Berlin? Both cities have there own charm. What are you looking for? Musea? Culture? Shopping?
I've been to both and enjoyed Berlin a bit more.
Why not Prague or Budapest? Cheaper and more old stuff, they haven't been bombed in WW2 like London and Berlin.
I'd go to one of those cities if I were you. Been to both as well.
Good luck with your decision and have an awesome trip. |

I have two weeks to spare of holiday for the rest of the year and am planning a trip to Europe. I want to spend a few days in a big city and then explore the rest of the country. At the moment, I'm drawn to Berlin and Germany or London and the UK.
Has anyone been to either or both? Any advice? |
